The last time Fernando Mendoza put on a football helmet and went to play, he was fighting for his Indiana Hoosiers in the CFP National Championship game against the Miami Hurricanes.

Since the game was at the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, the Hurricanes’ No. 1 fan, adult film star Abella Danger, could not have asked for a better environment.

She and the likes of Hurricanes legend Michael Irvin, and several other celebrities were in attendance, hoping to cheer when the program wins the National Championship at home. That hope faded when Hurricanes QB Carson Beck threw an interception on their final play, leaving the likes of Danger heartbroken. Now, the winner of that game, Fernando Mendoza, has declared for the NFL Draft.

With the likelihood of him being selected No. 1 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders, Vegas Sports Today’s Mike Dixon drove to Virgin Hotels, where the AVN Awards 2026 were being held, to ask Abella Danger about Mendoza joining the local NFL team.

He’s so quick, and he’s so powerful, and so intentional with everything he does. I feel like the Raiders will be so lucky to have him… I know they weren’t just dying to get more of that kid, he’s so talented.

Abella Danger replied

The retired adult star, who drew a lot of unwanted attention after ESPN cameras focused on her during the game, set aside her unwavering support for her school to shout out, possibly the best QB prospect this upcoming draft.

Tom Brady has glowing praise for Fernando Mendoza

Even though many believe the Las Vegas Raiders will pick Fernando Mendoza first overall, there are a few who think their leadership may not be fully convinced of the Heisman Trophy winner.

He played tremendous all season, 16-0, leading his team… When you hear him speak, I always judge QBs I’d go, ‘How would I have answered that?’ He’s just a very mature young man, he’s got a bright future.

Tom Brady said on The Herd

The Raiders’ minority owner’s public opinion might fuel rumors that his team will draft the Hoosiers QB in April. However, this could also be a generic glowing review of the signal caller, something the seven-time Super Bowl winner does now as a broadcaster.

Tom Brady knows all too well that giving away his team’s true intentions at this stage is not going to help them in the trade market. After all, they still have Geno Smith on contract, and the next head coach might be willing to keep him as their starter.

Some believe the Raiders are entertaining the idea of trading away their No. 1 overall pick. If that were true, then Brady could not let his true opinion come out into the open.

Fernando Mendoza ready to play anywhere

One of the perks of winning the Heisman Trophy and the CFP National Championship is that the top player gets invited to several talk shows. When he was on the Today Show, host Craig Melvin asked Fernando Mendoza about going No. 1 overall.

I would be blessed to play anywhere. The No. 1 pick is a great blessing, but any pick is a fantastic blessing. You only need one team to believe in you. So whoever believes in me, I’m going to give them my most.

Fernando Mendoza replied

As soon as the 22-year-old said this, Melvin called upon co-host Carson Daly, who happens to be a die-hard Las Vegas Raiders fan. The latter joked about how the soon-to-be rookie would find it to be a disappointment if his team drafted him.

To this, Mendoza responded with a wide smile on his face that he thinks the Raiders are a good organization with good people running it. It seems the Indiana superstar had to keep it diplomatic, knowing how it impacts draft stock.
