Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has helped Draymond Green grow from a second-round pick to become one of the league’s best defenders.
In the past 10 years, Kerr has coached them to four titles and has seen up front and closely how Green goes about his business as an enforcer, tactician, and tone setter for his team.
The problem that comes with the Michigan native is that he can, at times, go over the top when it comes to his aggression on the court. So far, Draymond Green has been able to keep it clean, especially after the league sent him to get ‘help’ after his physical actions against opponents.
In a bid to extend their winning run that started in their previous game against the Phoenix Suns, the Warriors were unable to pull away from the visiting Orlando Magic in the first half.
This probably led to frustrations for Green, who was captured having a meltdown during a timeout. The video shows the 6′ 6″ forward having a fiery exchange with Kerr.

The latter, usually known for his calm and soft-spoken demeanor, was also agitated by his players’ rant and responded in kind. Teammates came over to try to calm Draymond Green down, but he did not stop.
After a while, Kerr tried to calm the situation down, but the 35-year-old was still livid. Then, as soon as his head coach turned to speak to others, Green stood up and walked towards the dressing room, from where he did not return for much of the game.

Draymond Green eventually returned after spending about 20 minutes in the locker room. But Steve Kerr did not put him back in, and he watched his team win their second game in a row.

Uhhm, tempers spilled over, and I just thought it was best to get out of there. I don’t think there was a situation that it was going to get better, so it was best to remove myself.
Draymond Green said
This was the forward’s reply when reporters asked him about the fiery exchange with his head coach and his walking away from the team. Green did not detail what exactly was said, but did mention that it was best that he leave to avoid making the situation worse.

When Anthony Slater asked him to reveal what led him to have that outburst, the Michigan State Spartan mentioned that it was about ‘basketball’.
Then, when Slater further pressed the star if he was frustrated with his play, Green replied that he was not. This was the four-time champion’s way of not revealing what truly went on.
Steve Kerr keeps the details of his exchange with Draymond Green
After Draymond Green’s time with the reporters ended, it was Steve Kerr‘s turn, and reporters asked him about his version of the incident that became viral.
We got into it, I took the time out because I thought we lost our focus there. We had our little bit, and he made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off. Everything is private. That’s all I’m going to say about it. I’ve got nothing further to add.
Kerr replied
Then, Anthony Slater asked the head coach if the defensive ace was going back in the game, to which Kerr replied that he was not going to send Green back in.
Steve Kerr said Draymond Green chose to go to the locker room after the two had a heated argument during an early third quarter timeout. He wasn’t sent there. Green returned to bench for fourth quarter but Kerr said he wouldn’t have gone back to Green.

The 60-year-old made it clear that it was his decision not to send Draymond Green back into the game, as by then, the rest of the team were playing in rhythm. Kerr did, however, confirm that his star is important to their goals this season.
