Ice hockey is back for 2024 with pre-season games bringing in the heat. In the latest faceoff between the Texas Rangers and New Jersey Devils, three consecutive fights broke out on the ice with referees being busy separating players prior to the regular season games.
The faceoff took place at Madison Square Garden and the fans were absolutely loving it. It was some classic old-fashioned hockey with lots of chaos on the ice.
Within half of the game, the two teams recorded six fighting majors with NJ Devils defenseman Jackson Van De Leest and Rangers forward Benoit-Olivier Groulx dropping the gloves. Leest and Groulx pounded each other as the players gathered around the brawl area.

Later more fistfights took place between Devils forward Mike Hardman and Rangers forward Sam Carrick. They both jousted at the screen barrier as Carrick overpowered and nailed Hardman to the icy floor.

Finally, in the 2nd period, the third fight took place between the Ranger’s Connor Mackey and Devils Nathan Legare. The Rangers defenseman pinned Legare on the floor as two referees got involved and separated them. They were both guided to the time-out area, as things started to cool off between the teams.
Rangers alternate captain Artemi Panarin’s injury concerns fans for regular-season run
New York Rangers alternate captain Artemi Panarin retired early from the game on Tuesday with a lower-body injury in the first period. The team including the fans are concerned about his well-being as the lengthy 2024-25 regular season game is yet to start.
He immediately headed to the locker room, and later the Rangers announced that Panarin wouldn’t be returning to the lineup for the 2nd period. Coach Peter Laviolette told reporters that the forward will be getting further evaluated.

Even last week, Panarin exited the game with a lower-back injury in the game against NY Islanders. However, he returned to practice with only a day’s break. The coach further added, “there’s always a concern when a player leaves early.” Hopefully, he isn’t seriously injured and will return to the lineup by regular season games.
