“Fantasy on Ice”: Olympic Champion Hanyu Yuzuru to return to figure skating
Yuzuru Hanyu
Two time Olympic gold medallist Hanyu Yuzuru will soon see his return on ice, as the champion takes the stage in Fantasy on Ice. The four stop ice tour will see Yuzuru lace up his skates for the first time since the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Coming back for the first time since Beijing, Yuzuru will be on ice in May and June, said organisers. The two time gold medallist will appear in all four stops of the event: Makuhari, Chiba (27-29 May); Nagoya (3-5 June); Kobe (17-19 June); and Shizuoka (24-26 June).
Hanyu Yuzuru to make reappearance on ice after successful Beijing Olympic stint
Hanyu has remained rather silent after returning home from the Winter Olympics after 21 February. The 27-year-old even missed last month’s World Championship because of a lingering sprained right ankle he suffered at the Games. On Fantasy on Ice, Yuzuru will be joined by Sakamoto Kaori, Higuchi Wakaba and Kawabe Mana.
From over the globe, ice dance Olympic and world champions Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron will take part as will former men’s world champions Stephane Lambiel, Javier Fernandez and Jeffrey Buttle, and Johnny Weir.
