Spanish tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz clinched his second Wimbledon title by defeating seven-time champion Novak Djokovic in the final. He beat the Serbian for a second consecutive year in the summit clash at the All-England Club and became only the ninth man in the Open Era to defend his title at the Championships.
With the special feat warranting a special celebration, Alcaraz has already decided how he hopes to remember the achievement for a long time. He has stated that he wants to get July 14, 2024 (the date of his second Wimbledon win) inked on his body. However, he said that he needs to seek permission from his parents before going ahead with it.
I told my parents, just to calm them, that it’s just the first one in every major! But I think this is a really big moment. I think I’m going to put the date of this one next to last year. I have to discuss it with them!
Carlos Alcaraz told Tennis Channel
The Spaniard already has the date of his 2022 US Open win tattooed near his right elbow, an achievement that also made him the youngest man to reach the World No. 1 ranking. He also has the date of his 2023 Wimbledon victory and a strawberry inked on his right ankle. He had also promised to get the date of his maiden Roland Garros title win along with the Eiffel Tower tattooed in the future.
Carlos Alcaraz heads to Paris with Olympic glory on his mind
While winning a Grand Slam title is the ultimate motive for any tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz is eager to add more titles to his trophy cabinet. He is specifically targeting the Olympic medal at the 2024 Paris Games.
Alcaraz said that he is now focused on winning now one but two Olympic gold medals. While he wants to go all the way in the singles, he also wants to do well in doubles for his idol Rafael Nadal.
Being in the village with all the Spanish athletes is going to be awesome, a really beautiful moment for me. I’m going to go for the title. I’m going to go just thinking that I will be able to win it. That’s my goal, to bring a medal to my country, hopefully the gold medal. The doubles with Rafa is going to be a dream moment for me, and we will try to bring a gold medal again.Carlos Alcaraz said about his plans for Paris Olympics (H/T: Tennis.com)
