Finn Balor is one of the most respected wrestling veterans in the business. Recently, The Prince talked about future generations of professional wrestling. He highlighted a single WWE star as a remarkable talent and went on to heap heavy praise on him. In fact, The Judgment Day member expressed his desire to have a match against him in the future.
The star in the spotlight is Gunther. Speaking on WTSpod, the former Universal Champion called The Ring General the best performer on Earth right now. Further, he added that he had never seen anyone as talented as the 36-year-old. Finn Balor revealed that WWE had some plans for his feud with the Imperium leader in 2019. However, it went nowhere due to COVID.
I’ve expressed my opinion to the office that I would love to get that match, and hopefully, we can get it done in the future.Finn Balor on Gunther
Moreover, Balor called the antics of the King of the Ring 2024 unpredictable. Besides, this was not the first time The Ring General had been praised by a veteran. In fact, recently, he was also appreciated by a WWE Hall of Famer. With that said, there is seemingly a chance that the former United States Champion finally gets his wish in the distant future.
The record-breaking Intercontinental Champion is all set to face Damian Priest at SummerSlam. Therefore, Balor could face Gunther in the lead-up to the PLE. The latter has been putting on some banger matches in his main roster run. It is going to be interesting to see how the future transpires for him from here on.
Gunther makes major statement ahead of SummerSlam
Gunther has been out of action for WWE. He has not competed in the ring since winning the King of the Ring tournament. However, he had a choice of words this week on Raw. He was featured in a video package where he boasted himself and expressed confidence before his match against Damian Priest at SummerSlam.
The Ring General claimed to bring back the prestige of the World Heavyweight Championship just the way he did with the Intercontinental Championship. He boldly claimed that he had never approached WWE. In fact, WWE instead came to sign him. It was all to vouch for his incredible talent ahead of one of the most important matches of his career.
WWE had no choice but to call my name. They needed me. I did not need them,Gunther on Raw
The 2024 King of the Ring has elevated everything he has touched, including the NXT UK Championship and the Intercontinental Championship. He is scheduled to return to Raw next week to face off against the World Heavyweight Champion. With WWE holding Bash in Berlin next month in Europe, it is highly likely the 36-year-old will have a major role at the event.
