Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed midway during the clash with Inter Milan on Sunday. Following that incident, the game was suspended and there was not a lot of clarity on the situation immediately after.

However, in a recent update by the club, it has been stated that he is stable and awaits further inspection. Just 16 minutes into the game, Bove collapsed to the ground and was immediately shifted to a hospital.

Initial cardiological and neurological tests have ruled out severe damage to his central nervous system and cardio-respiratory functions. Edoardo Bove will be re-evaluated in the next 24 hours.

The club said in an official statement

The footballing authorities, on the other hand, decided to suspend the game considering the state of mind that the players and the fans might be going through on the pitch. Reports later stated that Bove regained consciousness briefly on his way to the hospital and was also about to breathe unassisted.

This was the second time that such an incident occurred in the Serie A this year. Earlier in April, AS Roma’s defender Evan Ndicka‘s collapsed lung caused quite a stir. He is currently recovering and could return to action shortly.

When can the rematch between Inter Milan and ACF Fiorentina happen?

There has been no clarification about when the suspended game between ACF Fiorentina and Inter Milan can be played. This is the second match that needs to be rescheduled after Bologna’s clash with AC Milan was not played earlier in the season because of heavy rain and flooding in the region.

With both Bologna and Milan being in the UEFA Champions League, it looks highly unlikely that they might have the chance to play it anytime in the midweek. Similarly, Inter Milan is also in the Champions League while Fiorentina have their Europa Conference League duties.

This means, there will be hardly any openings until February that might be suitable for both clubs to get the match replayed. Only time will tell when both teams can get this contest ticked off their schedules.
