Another WWE superstar who has had his character featured in The Simpsons is Bret Hart. The former WWE Champion appeared on an episode of the show in 1997, “The Old Man and the Lisa.” Hart voiced a caricature version of himself and bought Mr. Burns’ mansion in the episode. However, the character resembled The Hitman a lot more. He sported his iconic pink vest as well as his long black hair.

WWE Universe goes ballistic after John Cena’s character from The Simpsons is revealed

The wrestling world was quick to point out that the character was not very reminiscent of the Hollywood superstar in real life. In fact, many netizens claimed that he resembled Vince McMahon more than he did John Cena. He had the same muscular build and facial structure as the former WWE Chairman. Cena’s character looked heavily buffed, similar to how wrestlers looked in the 1980s, when most of them used steroids.

Many fans joked that he looked like the child of Vince McMahon and wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer. Some netizens asked if he would possess the same bald spot that the former WWE Champion now has in real life.

Regardless, fans were excited to see the role that this character would play in Sunday’s episode, titled ‘Bart’s Birthday.’ Cena’s animated projects have been successful in the past. He has previously featured in Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery and The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age Smackdown.

The 5x WrestleMania main-eventer is prepared to have one final run in WWE before he hangs up his boots for good. The erstwhile Doctor of Thuganomics will surely participate in several dream matches throughout 2025. He has even signed a new WWE contract in preparation for his retirement tour.
