Flau’jae Johnson and her LSU Tigers are preparing for their second exhibition game before finalizing preparations for their attack on the 2025-26 college basketball season.
In the midst of this, the last thing the retooled squad wants is a distraction. As one of the leaders, the senior is set to help mentor the young stars who have joined through the transfer portal.
Their goal is to battle for the NCAA Championship, and for that, they need all players, along with their fans, to be locked in. In the midst of this, something caught her eye.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry took to his X page and initially thanked the LSU chapter of Turning Point USA. They had held a successful program where over 1500 students listened to the organization’s leaders.
After that, as he stood beside ‘Mike the Tiger’, the governor challenged the University to put up a statue of Charlie Kirk, the slain conservative activist. To this, Flau’jae Johnson reacted with these symbols:

Flau’jae Johnson commented on Governor Jeff Landry’s post
Her comment is essentially questioning why the Governor would ask the University to set up a statue of Kirk, especially when his comments were largely right-leaning and were not universally accepted.

Several other comments questioned why the Governor’s own alma mater would not do that first. However, since this is a controversial topic, the 2026 WNBA draft prospect first deleted the tweet and then brought it back up a while later.
Charlie Kirk’s death divided the sports world as much as it united
Charlie Kirk was known to be courageous in having uncomfortable conversations with those who did not agree with his observations. He held open forums wherever he went and successfully shut down opposition debates.
It was in one such open table, called ‘Prove Me Wrong’, held at Utah Valley University, where the 31-year-old was shot and killed. At the time, many personalities from the NBA, WNBA, NFL, MLB, and other forms came together to mourn his death.
Some of them slammed those who were rejoicing in his death. Some professional teams held moments of silence for the slain political activist. However, at the same time, many were silent on the matter.
In some instances, boos were heard in the crowd when Kirk was being honored. This proves that, as much as Governor Jeff Landry believes LSU should put up a statue, it might face some controversy.
Flau’jae Johnson and MiLaysia Fulwiley could lead LSU to NCAA Championship
Last season, Flau’Jae Johnson willed LSU to an NCAA Elite Eight finish. However, the program has been to being winners under head coach Kim Mulkey.

After Angel Reese‘s departure, the program was devoid of a true forward. In the past transfer period, they managed to land Kate Koval from Notre Dame.
But their most important acquisition was convincing South Carolina star MiLaysia Fulwiley to join them. The guard is a sensational athlete, and the likes of Stephen Curry know her worth.
After a frustrating time under Dawn Staley, the junior decided she was better off being a starter than coming off the bench. Now, she and Flau’jae Johnson, along with Koval, are poised to lead the Tigers.
Many college basketball analysts believe that the trio, along with their teammates, have it in them to challenge the other heavyweights and make a run for the NCAA Championship.
