Real Madrid have been victims of the packed schedule this season, with several top players picking up injuries at various points in their season. Following the 3-0 win over Leganes, club President Florentino Perez called out the excessive number of games, drawing a surprising example from his squad.

Addressing the need for players to rest adequately, the 77-year-old argued that even young players aren’t spared. As of now, Real Madrid stars Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. are out with various injuries.

Several stars, including Ballon d’Or winner Rodri and former Real star Toni Kroos have protested against the same. Calls for a strike and even legal proceedings have been suggested as measures to ‘solve’ the issue. As things stand, Real Madrid has to play seven more games till the end of 2024.

The Brazilian’s injury means that he will miss crucial games against Liverpool, Getafe, Athletic Club, Girona and Atalanta. In the wake of the injury, several fans have turned on Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti. They criticized the Italian for ‘mishandling’ the forward.

The player has been involved in 22 games for club and country this season and has scored 12 goals for the Spanish side. A supporter argued that Ancelotti could have easily avoided Vinicius’ injury by deploying Endrick, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz in rotation.

Surprisingly, Endrick and Guler have only played 18 games combined, with most of them being cameos off the bench. With the main man in attack gone, Madrid will have to rely on Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham for goals. The Frenchman finally found the net against Leganes after a dry spell as Bellingham also followed suit.
