The Philadelphia Flyers fans have not forgotten the Cutter Gauthier saga. The former prospect left the organization a year ago and joined the Anaheim Ducks on a trade. On his return to the city of Brotherly Love, he received an unpleasant welcome as NSFW chants were thrown at him.
The 20-year-old was picked as a fifth overall draft pick by the team in the 2022 draft. However, he later demanded a trade away from the team, which sent shockwaves across the NHL. The youngster would not reveal the reason behind this decision of his.
He was later traded away to the Ducks in exchange of Jamie Drysdale. On Saturday, when the two teams faced off, the attention of the fans was thoroughly on Gauthier.
Fans would immediately start chanting, “We Want Cutter” and urged their opponents to put him on the ice. He was later heavily booed by the spectators present inside the Walls Fargo Center.
During his first shift, fans would brutally slam him with NSFW chants. As he took to the ice field, chants of “F*** Y** Cutter” were loudly heard inside the arena. Check out a video regarding this incident below:

To make matters worse for Gauthier, Drysdale, who was exchanged by the Ducks in the trade deal, ended up scoring in the game. In the first period, Drysdale made it 2-0 to the Flyers and scored just his second goal of the season. Chants of “Jamie’s Better” would also break out later on.
Flyers’ Travis Konecny comments regarding Cutter Gauthier after exchanging words with rookie
Apart from the fans, there were some Philadelphia Flyers’ stars as well who were giving Cutter Gauthier a hard time on the ice field. Travis Konecny would get into a heated exchange with him and threw some words in this direction.

The incident took place in the second period with the Flyers 2-0 up. After the game, Konecny spoke about the matter and expressed that they were just trying to giving him a hard time.
I mean, the crowd’s doing it all. I mean, it’s been a lot of fun playing tonight. I don’t know the kid. We’re just giving him a hard time. I think you know, when you come and be a Flyer, you don’t really understand till you’re here, and it means a lot. So I mean his loss, and I mean on to the next. We don’t really care.

The Philadelphia Flyers ended up winning the game 6-0 and ended their four-game losing run. With a victory in this game, they are now 18-20-5 for the season. As for the Ducks, they are now 17-20-5 and have lost three games on the bounce.
