“Flying Sanju samson saved India”- Twitter reacts to thriller match as India defeats West Indies by just 3 runs

India won the match by 3 runs

India, when they were asked to bat first, set a mammoth target of 309 runs for the West Indies on July 22 at the Queen’s Park Oval. India captain Shikhar Dhawan’s heroics and some good runs contributed by Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer helped India post the score.

India had got the upper hand as it looked. But West Indies also answered aggressively. Their opening batters Shai Hope got out quickly but that didn’t stop Kyle Mayers to score 75 runs off 68 balls with 10 fours and a six. But Shardul Thakur‘s full ball made Mayers drive away from the body and it took the outside edge and Sanju Samson caught it safely.

Shamarh Brooks then sent back by Thakur with his short ball. Brook was playing at 46 runs off 61 balls and had smashed four boundaries and a six. However, when he went for a pull off Thakur’s short ball, but he was never in control there. The ball went towards the deep square leg and Shreyas Iyer there caught a low catch.

Brandon King was dimissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. He completed his half-century (54 off 66 balls) when Chahal did the trick again. The ball was delivered flattered and around off and it turned away. King had gone after it and attempted to lift it over extra cover. But the ball had gone high and towards the extra cover where Iyer comfortably caught it.

Nicholas Pooran scored a quick 25 runs off 26 balls but Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd played brilliantly till the end. They kept the hopes alive for the Windies with their quick 33 runs off 32 balls and 39 runs off 25 balls respectively. But in the end, they just couldn’t complete the three runs needed to win the match.
