Mick Foley, whom the fans and wrestling pundits have time and again acclaimed as one of the most hardcore wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots, is no longer associated with WWE. The 60-year-old announced his dissociation with the promotion in a lengthy Facebook post on Tuesday, citing WWE’s booming relationship with Donald Trump as the driving force behind his decision.
‘The Hardcore Legend’ wrote in his note that he was already concerned about WWE’s close ties with the US President, whose inhumane crackdown policies for immigrants, or anyone who even looked like them, had upset Foley. The latter’s disapproval of Trump grew manifold after reading the Republican leader’s “incredibly cruel comments” in the wake of Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner‘s death.
Foley said he decided to part ways with WWE as he didn’t wish to represent a company that “coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion.” The four-time world champion also affirmed that Donald Trump is driving his country toward autocracy. The retired wrestler has informed the talent relations department of WWE about his decision of not making any future appearances for them until Trump remains in office.

Foley also will not renew his legends contract with WWE once the current one expires in June 2026. The erstwhile Mankind noted that he has and will continue to cherish his time with the company and is full of gratitude for the opportunities it provided him. However, Foley borrowed that saying from Popeye the Sailor to emphasize that, “I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more.”
The former Dude Love had previously warned his fellow US citizens of choosing their president wisely during the 2024 US Presidential Elections. After Mr. Trump trounced his opposing candidate, Kamala Harris, Foley turned to Instagram Stories and simply wrote “sad” with a black background.
Could Mick Foley’s stance of WWE’s relationship with Donald Trump be questioned?
The belief that Mick Foley holds against WWE does have every iota of substance to back it up. The wrestling juggernaut reportedly wanted the US President to attend John Cena‘s final WWE match this past weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event in DC. As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Queensland-born politician attended the Army vs. Navy football game in Baltimore on Saturday afternoon.

He could’ve made it back to Washington in time for Cena’s match if he wished to, but the 79-year-old decided to not go. Some key figures from the Donald Trump administration did mark their presence for the landmark WWE event, including Linda McMahon, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Howard Lutnick.

Someone who’s been steering the creative ship of WWE for over three years now, viz., Triple H, has heaped a ton of praise on Trump in recent months. ‘The Game’ went on the All-In podcast and hailed the president as the most charismatic and larger-than-life figure.
It didn’t sit well with the core audience of WWE, which has often implored the once-acclaimed lead booker of WWE to solely focus on improving the existing on-screen product, which has been subpar in 2025.
Donald Trump received major attention in wrestling circles circa mid-2024 once he started integrating with retired WWE legends like the late Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker. Hogan earnestly politicked for Trump for the majority of his election campaign last year. Meanwhile, Taker invited Trump on his Six Feet Under podcast, where the president got to know a few nuances about the pro wrestling business.
