Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen

F1 fans all around the World are fond of Kimi Raikkonen’s on-track skills and off-track attitude and seems to have always impressed everyone with his ice-cool attitude, giving him the nickname “Iceman”.

Outside of f1, Kimi is always known for being the life of the party and of the fun and energetic character rather than the emotionless, dull and silent one in f1. The former Alpha Romeo driver retired towards the end of 2021 season. It was disheartening for many to not see him pass the checkered flag at the last Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of the season but it did not seem to affect the 42-year-old and said that he may not set foot on the Formula 1 paddock again.

Kimi Raikkonen did not really share much during his time in F1 and rather let his 21 victories and A World Championship speak for itself. When asked about Kimi Raikkonen, many drivers had interesting insights to share, one of the many was Jenson Button.

Jenson Button shares an interesting anecdote

Jenson Button

After retiring from F1, Jenson Button decided to go back to his first team, Williams where his f1 journey started. He is currently the senior advisor at the Williams Formula One team and is also a Pandit for the Sky Sports Channel in UK. On recalling one of the events with Kimi Raikkonen he said, “We didn’t really talk in the paddock, but when you went outside the paddock, when the sun went down, things changed.”

“The only story I can really remember with Kimi, because most of them are a blur, we were out until like 3am in London and I had a house at that point,” he added.

And I was like ‘I’m tired, I’m out of here’. Got in the cab, get home, walk in my house, and Kimi is sat in my living room, alone, I have no idea how he got there,” Button continued.

To Jenson button’s surprise, he reminisced a blurry night out of the many, where they, Kimi and Jenson were out until 3am in London. At a point, Jenson got in a cab to go home as he was exhausted. When he reached his house, to his surprise, Button found Kimi sitting in his living room all alone with no recollection of how Kimi got there in the first place. He explained this during Sky Sports F1’s coverage of the 2021 season ending of Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
