Former UFC bantamweight title challenger Marlon Vera is wildly infamous for his gun enthusiasm. The Ecuadorian talent and No. 7-ranked 135-pound standout does not need a gun. But it sure did help to fend off a would-be attacker very recently!

“Chito” Vera is not a gun-toting maniac like Sean Strickland. But he has been known to dabble in it. From dousing classic weaponry to vividly wild stories of chasing raccoons with pellet guns on ‘JRE MMA Show’ #117, he does it all. Marlon “Chito” Vera seemingly fended off a would-be thief with a big honking knife at a driveway recently! The matter has gone quite viral.

Chat boards all over social media are divisive on whether it is real or not. The sloppy front-camera work and drawing the knife too early aside, the sequence is visibly fishy. During the ‘Chito Vera Vs Navy Seal | Short & Simple’ Episode #29, the fighter also took out his belted firearm to tout what he’d do to a would-be attacker. Vera pulling out a shotgun does fall in line with a gimmicky stunt. However, many have always billed that the fighter is prone to proper gusto.

He joins Andre Arlovski, Jorge Masvidal, Jon Jones, and others in this firearm kink. Much like UFC legends Anderson Silva and Luke Rockhold, Marlon Vera also once went viral, shooting downrange at ‘Taran Tactical.’ So this incident might just be true; it’s also not the first time he has faced such a thing.

Sean O’Malley was ready to get ‘loaded’ after rival Marlon Vera’s recent home security scare

Team RVCA’s Marlon Vera used to be the lone ‘1’ and blemish in former UFC 135-pound champ Sean O’Malley‘s record. O’Malley dominantly took care of Vera at UFC 299 PPV in his first title defense. His lopsided swipeout and strike-heavy stats also won him the Best ESPY Fighter (2024) for it.

After UFC 299, it came to be that the hard-chin rival Vera had a home scare during fight week. On an episode of the ‘TimboSugarShow’ Podcast, “Suga” turned sour and said he was ready to defend his home with the same rigor he defended his belt. Even if that meant loading up on pistols instead of pink Lamborghinis and lowriders.

I was walking around my property a couple of nights ago because I saw this car outside, …Walking around with my pistol loaded, ready. I was in a mindset—My family’s at my house. It’s not a game…Chito’s house got broken into. I don’t want someone trying to steal my sh*t! Like —You get in a mindset. Someone’s like, ‘I’m ready to die.’ I’m ready to kill. So I was just walking around out there with my AR, I’m walking around with my pistol.

O’Malley recently lost to current UFC 135-pound kingpin Merab Dvalishvili and is vying for a road back to gold. Marlon Vera, on the other hand, recently lost to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs. Nurmagomedov.

His and Vera’s trajectories are far from each other; it would also not make much sense for them to have a trilogy any time soon. However, such domestic issues bring up cases where, at the base level, every fighter links and goes through similar ordeals.
