2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Norway vs Montenegro Live Stream, Preview and Prediction

After earning a hard fought draw against Turkey, Norway turn their attention to their next qualifying game in Group G against Montenegro on Monday 11th October at the Ullevaal Stadion.

Norway are without their talisman Erling Haaland for this international break as he recovers from a minor injury. As a result the Scandinavian nation were held to a 1-1 draw by Turkey in their last game. Turkey opened the scoring early in the sixth minute of the game through Kerem Akturkoglu, but Haaland’s replacement at centre forward Kristian Thorstvedt levelled matters just before halftime. A draw against Turkey meant that Norway’s World Cup qualification hopes are just about alive as they find themselves in second spot with 14 points just 2 behind group leaders Netherlands. Turkey and Montenegro are also in the race to make it to the playoff spot for the 2022 World Cup.

Montenegro recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom placed Gibraltar in their last game and are in fourth place with 11 points just 3 points off the playoff spot. Against Gibraltar it was Adam Marusic who opened the scoring before Fatos Beqiraj scored a brace to seal all three points for his side. Miodrag Radulovic’s men ended a four match winless run with a victory against Gibraltar. They travel to Norway next in a hope to leap frog their opponents in second place with a win.

Norway will welcome Montenegro at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo, Norway. It is the home ground for the Norway national team and also hosts the Norwegian Cup Final every year. It has a total capacity of 28,000 seats.

Norway edged past Montenegro 1-0 the last time these two sides met last time in March, with Alexander Sorloth scored the winner in the 35th minute. Montenegro are confident after their 3-0 victory against Gibraltar in the last game and will surely want to keep the momentum going against Norway. However the hosts are unbeaten in their last five games and will want to continue the run without their star man Haaland. Hence we expect Norway to win this crucial tie against Montenegro.
