Although the American boys didn’t qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia, the USMNT has always been a part of the prestigious tournament. They have often provided the fans with jaw-dropping moments at the competition.
The last time the USA national team topped their group in the World Cup was in 2010, as they faced countries like England, Slovenia, and Algeria. They went on to lose to Ghana in the round of 16 of the competition as they conceded a late injury-time goal to give up the extra time.
The USA team had an extravagant run to the Quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup as they beat teams like Portugal and Mexico on their journey. They lost to the German heavyweights in a 1-0 tie in a difficult game for them.

The United States national team has never missed out on the world cup before 2018 since 1990. The tournament has seen many Americans producing extraordinary moments for the global audience.
They have appeared in 11 FIFA World Cup competitions and made their first appearance in 1930. They had a tremendous run to the third position in the competition in the same year before getting hammered by the Argentine giants in the semi-finals. The USMNT lost 6-1 to Argentina that day.
The USMNT board appointed Gregg Berhalter who has had a successful run with the country as their head coach until now. The USMNT has won two CONCACAF Gold Cups and a CONCACAF nations League trophy in its span.
