When people talk about curses in professional sports, they are typically talking about the way an outside force affects a professional athlete on the field. However, in Ramsey’s case, it has to do with his perceived ability to predict a major death every time he scores a goal on the soccer field.

The Curse of Aaron Ramsey, or as it is popularly known, ‘The Aaron Ramsey Curse’ is a popular conspiracy theory according to which a famous celebrity is bound to die soon after he nets the ball in a match.

It is said that the curse first began back in 2009 when Ramsey scored for Wales. The first victim of the curse was the beloved broadcaster, Andres Montes, who died right after Ramsey’s first goal with the Welsh National team.

The Ramsey Curse has been recognized for several years, with some going back and revising its impact as more and more fall victim to it. This is not like the Babe Ruth Curse with the Boston Red Sox in the National Baseball League in the USA or the Kardashian and Drake Curses for several teams and athletes in basketball. Instead, according to this curse, every time Ramsey scores, somebody notable loses his life.

If anyone is being honest with themselves, they will know that notable people are constantly dying. One cannot go more than a few hours without hearing about somebody of note dying in some way. Thus, it is easy to prescribe a curse such as this even though it can be associated to literally any football player who has scored goals during their career.

The internet has fun with curses and petty sports insights, and the Ramsey curse is just an extension of the same. Until somebody can link the deaths to something he has done, it will continue to be applied as loosely or tightly as it exists, to fit it into the narrative created by fans and boring football personalities.

Also, on a sarcastic note, the best way to do this is to stop Aaron Ramsey from ever scoring a goal again.
