Alexander Čeferin, UEFA President takes direct shots at Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus

Alexander Čeferin, UEFA President has always been very straight forward about his opinion about the Super League. In one of his recent interview he said that if Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus wants out from the UEFA then there will be no problem as these aren’t the only team which represents European football.

“I would not mind if they left,” Ceferin said in an interview published this weekend in Der Spiegel.

“It is very funny that they want to create a new competition and at the same time they want to play in the Champions League this season.

“[These three clubs] simply have incompetent leaders. Those guys [Florentino Perez, Joan Laporta and Andrea Agnelli] have tried to kill football.”

What is European Super League ?

European Super League was the idea of forming a league with 20 teams to compete against each other just like UEFA Champions League. Initially only 12 teams supported this Idea.

Alexander Čeferin, as soon as he was informed about the idea of the Super League, he decided to take immediate action. He threatened each and every teams in the proposal that things would not go very right if they continued with this idea of Super League.

“Gentlemen, you made a huge mistake. Some will say it is greed, others disdain, arrogance, flippancy or complete ignorance of England’s football culture. It does not matter. What does matter is that there is still time to change your mind. Everyone makes mistakes.”

Čeferin also took direct shots at Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s President and said that “[He] is criticising [UEFA] and saying that the club can only survive with a Super League and then is trying to sign Kylian Mbappe for 180 million euros.” 

Due to his very straightforward reaction to the Super League he threatened on the claim that he will be sued if he did not support the Idea but being a stubborn person he stood his ground and the idea of the Super League was brought down to the dirt just three days after it was proposed.
