Premier League club Chelsea have been trying for a long time to sign a new contract with German international Antonio Rudiger. The defender is one of the best players under Thomas Tuchel and they want to tie him down.

According to new rumours, Rudiger is in absolutely no rush to sign a new contract with Chelsea. Although he has not denied the offer from Chelsea- he wants to be made the highest-paid defender in the Premier League.

Currently, Manchester United’s Raphael Varane is the highest-paid defender in the Premier League earning a whopping £340,000 per week wage. Hence Chelsea will have to beat that in order to keep hold of Antonio Rudiger.

Juventus star Matthijs De Ligt is the highest-paid defender in the world taking home £400,000 per week. This just shows that Chelsea will have to break the bank for Antonio Rudiger.

However, Rudiger is an extremely important asset for Thomas Tuchel. He is an experienced defender who is in all fairness one of the best in the business. He has great heading abilities and searing pace.

Moreover, other big clubs are also keeping tabs on Rudiger. Spanish giants Real Madrid CF are also interested in him but it’s unsure whether they will be able to satisfy his wage demands as well.
