Arsenal managed to beat Wolves 1-0 away from home in a crucial game in the Premier League. The Gunners had to win this game to have any chance to be in touch with fellow top 4 rivals Manchester United and West Ham United. Wolves also had an outside chance of making the top 4 which made this game very important.

Arsenal started the game on a good note but it was a very tight contest with end to end football. The Gunners opened the scoring through Gabriel who scored a tap in after French forward Alexandre Lacazette squandered his chance. There were many chances for Wolves to equalize but the Arsenal defence were up to the task throughout the game.

Mikel Arteta’s men did not seem to give up space at all and had one of the best defensive displays this season when they controversially went down to 10 men following Gabriel Martinelli’s red card in the 69th minute. Arsenal won the enticing fixture and have now presented themselves with a great chance to get back in the top 4.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wasn’t too pleased with the officiating of the game against Wolves yesterday night in the Premier League. However, the French manager had plenty of reasons to smile after his team secured a crucial win and performed really well after going down to 10 men.

Mikel Arteta said,” Obviously it was a massive game for us, playing away against a really good team that makes very little errors, that concedes very little and that they are extremely dangerous. I think we had some really good periods in the game, we went ahead, but the red card changes everything. We had to dig in and suffer, we showed great resilience and that is why at the end we got the points.”

The Arsenal manager added,” The red card was very worrying. It is the first time I have seen a red card like this in 18 years that I have been in this league. I think you have to be pretty willing to give a red card in that situation. But it still happened. We know that playing with 10 men in this league you’re not going to get points that we want and we have to stop it.”

“But to be fair it is difficult to find more arguments and more ways to transmit that to the players. Everybody says it’s the most disciplined group they have seen in the last 15 years, but we are still getting red cards for other things. I kept telling you guys how close they are, the unity and togetherness and today was another example. I think we have so many and that is why I am proud to coach these players,” said the Frenchman.

Mikel Arteta also said,” If you ask me if I am happy with the decisions we have had this season, I am not at all. But that is a conversation I will have privately with the officials. We need explanations with what happened in VAR and I need explanations with what happened today. The conversations are going to happen soon.”
