Arsene Wenger back at Emirates? ‘The Professor’ comments on his possible return as the Arsenal Manager

Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger’s diligent public persona has earned him the title “Le Professeur” among supporters and the English media. He is one of the most well-known coaches of his period, and he is credited with changing public opinions of the game and job both in England and overseas. His style of play stresses an aggressive mindset, with the goal of making football enjoyable on the field.

Wenger’s Arsenal sides were chastised for their lack of discipline and ignorance; between September 1996 and February 2014, his players collected 100 red cards, despite the team gaining recognition for sports fairness. Wenger had a knack for finding young talent and building a youth academy at Monaco, which he carried over to Arsenal.

The famed “invincibles” era of the Gunners’ came to fruition under his watch and it was due to Wenger’s dedication, efforts and love for the game. Winning multiple trophies along with his arsenal side – like the FA cup, Premier League, etc., he has by far the most successful manager for Arsenal since its inception.

Arsene Wenger’s Exit

After their FA cup win in the year 2017, Wenger’s side saw a rather tragic downfall in terms of transfers and fixtures among other aspects of the game. Arsenal made quite a few transfers – like the Alexis Sanchez and Mkhitaryan swap which did not prove to be beneficial. Consequentially, Wenger announced to the world that he would be leaving the club by the end of that season in 2018 and finally ended his 22-year long spell at one of the best clubs on the planet, which he helped build and create.

Wenger later revealed that he wanted to stay at the club till his contract ended, but the board members and several fans insisted on his exit, which he found “brutal” considering all his contributions to the club, city and sport as a whole.

Arsenal’s Lacklustre Start

Arsenal have been off to the worst starts to a season in their history

Despite Arsenal’s very expensive transfer window- spending close to 145 million pounds in buying key players for the team, they suffered losses recently against Norwich, Chelsea and Manchester City, leaving them with 0 points and a disappointing start to this season. Considering the recent new of injury to their midfield as well, things aren’t looking too great for the gunners’.

Arteta’s team are currently sitting at 20th in the table which is quite embarrassing for a club of their stature and prestige. From being considered as the “invincibles” and one of the “Big four” to battling relegation from the Premier league, the club has taken huge blows in recent times and the future doesn’t seem too promising either.

The Professor denies rumours

The public have linked Arsene Wenger’s return to the club as a result, which just turned out to be a wild rumour and a desperate attempt to see their team go back to winning ways.

In response to this, Wenger made it clear that the club’s woeful start to the season will not continue for long and that he has faith in Arteta and his players.

“I am 71 years old. I have dedicated the best years of my life for the club. I am only a fan at the moment,” he said
