Liverpool FC are still going strong in their title race with Manchester City for the Premier League title. With Chelsea practically out of the race, the Reds are the only team left who can compete with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Liverpool registered a 3-1 victory against Patrick Viera’s men to keep the pressure on. They are currently second placed in the Premier League table with 48 points with a game in hand.

Ronaldinho heaps praise on Virgil Van Dijk as Liverpool get the win

Dutch international Virgil Van Dijk was on point against Crystal Palace as he opened the scoring for the visitors. A thumping header from Andy Robertson’s cross as he got the scoring underway.

English international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain then doubled up the lead for Liverpool FC. However, Crystal Palace found a way back in as Odsonne Edouard pulled a goal back.

But Roberto Firmino then again restored their 2 goal lead for Liverpool as he scored from the penalty spot. It was a controversial decision but nevertheless, it ensured Liverpool got the three points.

After the game, Van Dijk took to Instagram to celebrate the win. “Boom!!! 3 points! It’s a tough place to go and it showed. Time to recharge and get back to it after the break ?,” he wrote.

In reply, Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho praised him highly. Ronaldinho wrote that Van Dijk is an extremely elegant player and he should continue defending with authority.

‘You are fantastic, play with elegance and command the defence with mastery…. Congratulations.’
