An agreement has been reached for Massimiliano Allegri to return to Turin, with the 53-year-old having departed the club in 2019 to make way for Maurizio Sarri. Allegri who led Juventus to two Champions League finals in the span of three years is coming back to Allianz Stadium in hopes of building a new cycle of success that resembled the last time he was in charge at the club.

Massimiliano Allegri has been on the Juventus bench 271 times with 191 wins, 43 draws and 37 defeats, and has won 5 league titles, 4 Italian Cups and 2 Italian Super Cups with the club.

Juventus, had moved first, thus beat the competition for Allegri from Inter and Real Madrid. The contacts between the parties had been going on for some time; until yesterday the economic agreement that was found was missing.

Discussions between Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli and Allegri quickly reached a positive conclusion, with Pirlo set to leave his position as head coach following a disappointing 2020-21 campaign at the helm.

According to Fabrizio Romano:

Massimiliano Allegri back to Juventus, the verbal agreement has been reached today morning – he’s gonna sign the contract in the next few hours. Juventus are also preparing the official statement. It’s gonna be official in the next 24 hours. Allegri has just decided to accept becaude Real Madrid were still taking time after Zinedine Zidane decided to leave the club.

Everything is therefore ready for the return of the Tuscan coach to the Juventus bench two years after the separation. Once the agreement between the parties has been defined, it remains only to define whether it will be a three or four season contract, then the signature will arrive.

Inter until last night tried to do everything to convince Allegri, but the call of the heart made the difference. Thus ends, at the same time, the experience of Andrea Pirlo who leaves Juventus after just one year.
