“I’d be hesitant to change it”- Carlo Ancelotti skeptical about altering formation ahead of game against Athletic Club

Ever since Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti rejoined Real Madrid this summer, the Los Blancos have been simply unstoppable both in La Liga and in the UEFA Champions League. Two of their ace strikers Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr are in the best form of their lives and everything is going as planned for La Casa Blanca.
Real are currently 6 points ahead of second placed Sevilla and are in no immediate threat of losing their no.1 spot. Despite being in such a suitable position, head coach Carlo Ancelotti does not look confident ahead of their match against Athletic Club in this gameweek, for a certain reason.
Well the thing that is concerning the Italian gaffer is that Real Madrid is without a lot of players due to the COVID-19 outbreak in their camp which has infected the likes of Luka Modric and several other main team players. Carlo Ancelotti feels that he might have to change his formation against Atheltic Club but he is not sure about that completely.
Carlo Ancelotti skeptical about Formation change
Speaking in the Press conference, Carlo Ancelotti said, “This will be a difficult game, played with the intense atmosphere of San Mamés, which I like. It’s a good opportunity to demonstrate the squad depth we have. We’re missing Casemiro and Modrić, but it’s an opportunity for players like Camavinga. I don’t know if I’ll change the system, but I’m thinking about it.”
“Our 4-3-3 system has helped us a lot in recent weeks, so I’d be hesitant to change it. If I do, the only reason I would do so is because we don’t have a natural right forward and we could play a 4-4-2. I need to wait until tonight. At night, ideas come to me.”
However, the good news is that Vinicius Jr is fully fit for the upcoming match and Real Madrid’s head coach confirmed that the Brazilian will start against Athletic.
On being asked whether Vinicius will be rested Carlo said, “Absolutely not. And tomorrow he’ll play his 22nd. For as long as he is good physically, he’ll keep playing. We’ll need him tomorrow.”
Speaking against Eden Hazard who featured in their previous match against Cadiz, Carlo Ancelotti said, “As for Hazard, he has been training better for a month or so now, so he wouldn’t be risking physical problems if he plays tomorrow. But, I need to evaluate him today. It’s quite clear that he’s not a wide right forward. He’s a player who prefers the left wing, but he had to play on the right against Cádiz, although not close to the touchline because that’s where Lucas was. He likes to come inside and we have to look at this, because I want my players to be comfortable in their position.”
