Cristiano Ronaldo lashes out at Pascal Ferré’s false statements regarding Ballon d’Or comment
Cristiano Ronaldo has come out furiously to address a few false comments made by France Football’s editor-in-chief Pascal Ferre. The Portuguese superstar did not hold back in his publicly addressed social media post after the French editor had commented on the rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi regarding the prestigious Ballon d’Or trophy a couple of days back.
In a recent interview, Pascal Ferre had said that Cristiano Ronaldo’s aim in his footballing career was to win more Ballon d’Or awards than Lionel Messi, who already has 6 to his name, in comparison to the Portuguese’s 5.
To that, Ronaldo responded with a huge explanation of his own, stating how he does not play for individual awards, and the main motive for him is to win titles with his club and international side, till the time he continues to play football.
“The greatest ambition of my career is to win national and international titles,” Cristiano Ronaldo hits out at those who think he plays for individual glory
“Today’s outcome explains why Pascal Ferré’s statements in the last week, saying that I confided to him that I had the sole ambition to end my career with more Golden Balls than Lionel Messi,” wrote Cristiano Ronaldo on the caption of the social media post with a picture of himself giving an intense look.
“Pascal Ferré lied, used my name to promote himself and to promote the post he works for. It is unacceptable that the responsibility for awarding such a prestigious award should lie like this, in absolute disrespect for someone who has always respected France Football and the Golden Ball. And lied again today justifying my absence from the Gala with an alleged quarantine that has no reason to be.”
“I always wish congratulations to those who win,” Cristiano Ronaldo squashes claims of him not being gracious in defeat
“I always wish congratulations to those who win, within sports and fair play that have guided my career from the beginning, and I do so because I’m never against anyone. I always win for myself and the clubs I represent, I win for myself and those who want me well. I don’t win against anyone.”
“The greatest ambition of my career is to win national and international titles for the clubs I represent and for my country’s Selection. The greatest ambition of my career is to be a good role model for all those who are or wish to be professional footballers. The greatest ambition of my career is to leave my name written in the golden letters in the history of world football.”
“I end by saying that my focus is already on the upcoming Manchester United game and everything that we can still conquer this season along with my mates and our supporters. The rest? The rest is just the rest…”
It is not often, Cristiano Ronaldo takes comments made on him to heart or makes a huge fuss about it, but it’s fair to say that he did not take the comments made by Pascal Ferre lightly and has given him the perfect reply ahead of the 2021 Ballon d’Or award ceremony which will be held hours later in Paris.
