Cristiano Ronaldo posts motivational message after Portugal’s 0-0 draw against Ireland
Portugal played out a sedate 0-0 draw against Ireland in their latest World Cup qualifier, and their star Cristiano Ronaldo took to his official social media account to post a motivational message to his country’s fans who were disappointed by the result. The point earned by Portugal helped them move to the top of the group, but they still haven’t done enough to guarantee their qualification into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been in scintillating form this season for his national side failed to produce the goods against Ireland unlike their previous encounter earlier this year, where the Number 7 scored a final minute brace to snatch all three points from the Irish side.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s message on Instagram read, “Always difficult to play in Ireland, but the point scored leaves all the goals at our mercy. On Sunday, in front of our audience and in our home, we will stamp out our presence at the Qatar World Cup! Stay Strong.”
Ronaldo admitted that it was a tough night for the whole side, who at one time were down to 10 men after veteran centre back Pepe saw a red card in the 81st minute of the match.
Portugal are level on points with Serbia, and will play them in a winner takes all final group match encounter on the 15th of November. Portugal, however, can progress even with a draw courtesy of their better goal difference over second-placed Serbia.
