Davide Zappacosta joins Atalanta on a permanent deal.
Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta has secured a permanent move to Atalanta.
Atalanta reportedly paid Chelsea €10m to bring in the right back to the club this summer, which last played for them in the 2014-15 season.
Chelsea signed the Italian from Torino on the deadline day in 2017 for €28m plus bonuses.
He made his first Premier League appearance for the blues on 9th September 2017 in a 2-1 away win against Leicester City. He made his Champions League debut at home and scoring his first goal for Chelsea against Qarabag FK in a 6-0 win.
But Zappacosta couldn’t quite cement his position in the team making just 52 appearances in his four year spell at the club.
However he was a huge part of Chelsea’s 2017 FA Cup success and also winning the 2019 UEFA Europa League.
His last appearance for Chelsea came in the 2019 Europa League final replacing Eden Hazard.
Before making his move permanent to Italy he spent his last two seasons on loan at AS Roma and Genoa respectively.
The new right-back will favour the playing style of the Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini and will look to find his spark back with his former club.
Zappacosta will wear number 77 at his new club Atalanta.
Chelsea working on Jules Kounde signing
Chelsea wants to bring the French International to Stamford Bridge this summer with personal terms agreed with the 22-year old.
They are working on an agreement with Sevilla for the defender and also looking to work on a deal for Kurt Zouma with West Ham interested.
Reports also suggest that Atletico has offered Saul Niguez to Chelsea on loan with option to buy.
Should Chelsea be able to complete both the deals before the transfer window closes then it will be a summer to remember for the reigning UEFA Champions League winners with already securing the move of Romelu Lukakun from Inter earlier this summer for a whopping £97.5 million.
