“Door is always open for him”: Antonio Conte opens up on Christian Eriksen’s possible return to Spurs

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte recently hinted on a potential return of Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen to the North London outfit in his recent press conference. Eriksen who suffered a cardiac arrest at the Euro 2020 while playing for Denmark was later fitted with a heart-starting device and as a result of that Inter had to terminate the midfielder’s contract because Italian rules prohibits players to play with it.

Following the termination the Italian boss says that “Door is always open him.” Eriksen who moved from Spurs to Inter in January 2020 for a reported fee of £16.9m is now without a club and a potential return to Spurs could to on the cards as the midfielder aims to be fit in order to represent his country at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Eriksen and Antonio Conte have worked together at Inter and won the 2020/21 Serie A title. “I didn’t speak recently with Christian and for sure, it was fine to see him on a pitch and to see that he’s kicking a ball, We are talking about a really important player, but especially a top man.” Antonio Conte said in his pre-match  press conference before the FA Cup against League One side Morecambe. 

He further added “I was scared at that moment and now to see him again ready to play football is a great news, and I think for Christian the door is always open.”

Tottenham star midfielder Son Heung-Min is out until February and will miss some key games for Spurs over the period. Son who featured in the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea in the League Cup on Wednesday was taken off with fifteen minutes left to play. 

Here is what Antonio Conte said “It was a strange situation because against Chelsea I made two subs and with together Lucas Moura and Son but not for injury, only to try to give them 15 minutes of rest, Then the day after Son felt a bit of pain in his leg and he had a scan, and now we have to make the right evaluation.”

Harry Kane will also be rested against Morecambe to be all set to face Chelsea Arsenal and Leicester City in the coming days.
