Durand Cup: FC Goa vs Army Green Live Stream, Preview and Prediction

In Day-3 of the Durand Cup 2021, the action involves the teams from Group B, which has also been tagged as the “Group of Death”, when Indian Super League elites FC Goa comes up against Army Green from the Indian Army. While FC Goa make their Durand Cup debut, Army Green would like to repeat the heroics of 2016, when they went on to lift the trophy.

The Gaurs, being from the Indian top tier, would be tagged as one of the favorites for the trophy, and would look to kick start with a win. But it would not be an easy task as Durand Cup 2016 Champions Army Green would be playing without any pressure, and could prove to be dangerous.

FC Goa are still in their pre-season phase, and according to their coach Juan Ferrando, they love the fact that they are competing in a prestigious trophy during the pre-season. Ferrando further added, “We are working with a lot of young players. We are happy because step-by-step we are improving and now at this moment, our target is to work like a cohesive unit.”

The coach also said that FC Goa would go into the game with much more pressure in contrast to the regimental Army Green, which might play a key role in the game.

With a knack of causing upsets, Army Green would be roaring to play in the supposed Group of Death and defy odds again. They also remain the last side from the Indian Army to lift the trophy. Army Green coach MG Ramachandran said, “We have been training hard. Game may turn in favour of any side at any moment. We are confident in getting a win, since we have poured our heart and soul into this coveted tournament.”

The coach also added, “Yes we have our history but that is now old. We believe everyday has a new challenge and one has to deal with it on day-to-day basis. We will put our best foot forward.”

The FC Goa vs Army Green match will be held at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, commonly known as The Salt Lake Stadium. The stadium has a seating capacity of 85,000 spectators but due to the COVID situation only 50% capacity has been planned and it is highly likely that even that doesn’t get filled.
