Eddie Nketiah transfer news: Watford looking to sign Arsenal player
According to the recent transfer news, the newly promoted Watford are looking to secure the services of Arsenal youngster, Eddie Nketiah in a cut-price deal. The player is on the radar of the Hornets after Eddie Nketiah had a good season with Gunners.
The Under-21 player for England, Nketiah enters the final year of his contract and the news of contract extension died down since January. With Arsenal looking to raise the funds for new arrivals, the club is also interested in doing business with the Hornets.
What is the latest update on Eddie Nketiah?
Eddie Nketiah featured in 29 games for Arsenal in the 2020/21 season. Though Arsenal finished eighth under Mikel Arteta, Nketiah had a great season compared to that of 2019/20. He not only scored six goals across all competitions but also had an assist in a Premier League game for the Gunners. Despite showing the hunger and desire to play for the club, Nketiah fell down the pecking order with the rise of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka. The player is yet to discuss fresh terms with the club and this has opened the doors for Watford to have a chance.
The Mirror reported on the rumored player transfer to the Vicarage Road outfit:
His contractual status has opened the door for potential suitors, with the Hornets among them. Nketiah, 21, has come through the academy ranks in north London but is down the pecking order under boss Mikel Arteta. Even so, Arsenal would want north of £15m for the player if they were to allow him to leave. (Via: Mirror)
The report also suggests that the North London outfit is set to demand a sum of £15 million from Watford to fund their transfer signings. Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Yves Bissouma (Brighton and Hove Albion), Achraf Hakimi (Inter Milan) and Houssem Aouar (Lyon). Eddie Nketiah is not the only player reported with a move out of the club. The likes of Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira are also reported with a move away from Arsenal.
