Eden Hazard vouches to ‘prove his worth’ this season in Real Madrid.

When Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid in the summer transfer window of the 2019/20 season from Chelsea, he was one of the best players in the world. Fresh from a UEFA Europa League victory with Chelsea and a fabulous FIFA World Cup with Belgium. Real Madrid CF thought they had a good replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

However that has been all but true. In his two seasons at Real Madrid CF, Eden Hazard has managed to make a mere 46 appearances for them with fourteen of them coming in the La Liga. His time at the Bernabeu has been full of injury problems.

Now it’s a new season with a new manager for Eden Hazard under Carlo Ancelotti. The Madrid boss has made it very clear that he will select his team as per merit and not past exploits. Hence it’s an indication to Eden Hazard that he must step up. However the Belgian international is not one to back down. He has accepted this challenge and vowed to come back strong this season.

“People think that I am always injured. That is the truth. But if you review my career there is not a player who, for a period of 10 years, has played as many games as I have,” Hazard said.

“I do what I have to do. I work daily with the physio. That’s what I do. Since the beginning of the season we have done a great job with the physical trainer.

“At the moment it is going well, I am feeling better, but I am not completely 100% still. I hope we continue like this.”

“Sometimes it has been difficult to be injured. You want to play and you are in the club trying, but you still have that pain. Those are the worst moments.

“Sometimes it is difficult to understand, you do everything you need to do and not even that helps… so suddenly you don’t want to do anything else.”
