Everton are having one of the worst seasons in the history of the club. The Toffees are just outside the relegation zone on goal difference and have just managed to get 22 points from 26 games this season. Everton are the most likely team to get relegated this season after a string of poor performances under new manager Frank Lampard.

Frank Lampard’s team lost their latest Premier League clash against Wolves in a must win game. The Toffees started the game well with Richarlison coming close to opening the scoring for the club but was denied by Wolves keeper Jose Sa. However, as time went by, Wolves’ defending improved and Everton did not seem to create any real chances.

Everton finished the game with 10 men as defender Jonjoe Kenny was sent off with 10 minutes still left to play. The Toffees are fighting to stay up in the Premier League and will have to get positive results sooner rather than later if they have any hope of surviving the drop.

Frank Lampard’s men are currently 17th in the Premier League and only sit above the relegation zone on goal difference. The Toffees are fighting with Leeds United, Watford, Burnley and Newcastle United to survive the relegation, but Everton have the toughest fixtures among their nearest rivals.

Everton boss Frank Lampard was honest in his post match interview after his team lost 1-0 in their latest Premier League match against Wolves. A win would have given the Toffees a much needed cushion and chance for avoiding relegation, but after the defeat, it seems Everton will be heading towards a disaster.

Frank Lampard said,” We were the stronger team in the first half, but Wolves don’t give you many opportunities, which is why they don’t concede a lot of goals. If we had scored one of our early chances, it would have looked and felt a different game.”

The Everton manager also added,” Their goal changed the feeling of the game and the feeling of the stadium, which is understandable, with the position the club is in. It is disappointing because everyone feels the need for points, which is normal, but we have 12 games remaining and can’t look at this one alone.”

“My job is to give confidence to the players, to create a mentality where we are together and understand what we all want, which is to stay up. The important thing for us is to have the absolute desire and fight to get out of this. The more we fight and stay together, then something may go in our favour that changes the look of it very quickly,” said the Toffees manager.

Lampard also said,” The players gave everything, there were some moments where we wanted our quality to be better, but that happens in this situation. The important thing now is to remain very positive. We lost a tight game against a good team, which can happen in football. It is my job to be confident and positive….we must keep our heads up and battle on.”

Frank Lampard ended by saying,” All we can do is work, there is never another answer in football. Just work and fight. That is what these situations demand. We have 12 games and are waiting for that moment when something turns in our favour. We must stay balanced, stay together and know there are a lot of games to get the points we need.”
