English football fans are regarded as ‘unique’. The fans, who are passionate and loud, have often caused trouble since the start of football. The Hooliganism, regular clashes between rival fans, and unruly behavior caused English clubs to be banned from European competitions as well.

Now the behavior of fans has improved, but clashes still occur like the recent one between the fans of Wolves and West Brom. To ensure the brawls and clashes are under control, clubs hire stewards and security guards.

Stewards usually ensure fans keep the fans controlled, while also helping them out in finding their seats, and checking tickets, and if a problem arises, they are supposed to be the ones to keep everything in order. With such important jobs, it is a given that the stewards must have the physical capabilities to ensure they are able to do their duties.

Unfortunately, a steward has gone viral for being the complete opposite. During Watford’s FA Cup Round 4 fixture with Southampton, a photo of a ‘dwarf’ security guard has gone viral on Twitter. A Watford fan had uploaded it and the tweet received a million views and 4.5k likes.

When the photo of the fan went viral on the internet, many fans couldn’t stop making jokes at the expense of the guard. They mocked his height, joked how he was there as it was “Bring your children day” and wondered what he could guard. Some defended the guard, adding that the jokes at his expense were not funny.

Watford were held to a draw by Southampton. They led for 84 minutes of the game, as Matheus Martins scored in the 4th minute. Stuart Armstrong’s 89th-minute strike from the edge of the box ensured the game ended as a draw, which now means there will be a replay. That match will be played on 7th February, with the winner playing Liverpool in the 5th round of the FA Cup

Watford are currently 10th in the Championship. They were last in the Premier League in 2021/22 but relegated back. In the previous season, they had finished 11th. As of now, the return to the top flight of the English Pyramid looks like a faraway dream.
