American golf stars Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth could become investors in recently relegated Leeds United after its takeover by 49ers Enterprises from Andrea Radrizzani. Fowler has said that he’s ‘moving forward’ with the deal with his Ryder Cup teammates showing interest too.
The enterprise struck a deal with the previous owner last week. This will see them take full control of the recently relegated Championship club based in Leeds.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Fowler said, “There is the group that’s moving forward with being involved with Leeds. Myself, JT and Jordan potentially will be a part of it.It’s cool to have those opportunities. I know we are looking into it. It will be fun if we get to be a part of it.“
“It’s a massive sport. I feel like its continuing to get bigger in the States. Since I haven’t been to a game, I don’t have the true appreciation until I’ve actually been able to go and be there and feel that energy,” added the PGA golfer.
Various wealthy individuals back the American investment company that owns the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers. Larry Nance Jr., the New Orleans Pelicans basketball player has also confirmed his involvement and could be joined by more sportsmen besides him.
United interested in Koch
Manchester United have shown interest in signing 26-year-old Leeds United defender Robin Koch this summer. They have held ‘loose talks’ with Leeds United to sign him. According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Koch is on United’s shortlist. They will make attempts to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams this summer.
Leeds United might have to get rid of many of their players due to their relegation to the EFL Championship. Koch might be one of them. After their relegation, the players can trigger the release clauses in their contracts.
Leeds United are going through a period of uncertainty with the ownership and the impending managerial change. They must look to sort this out before the start of the season.
