In an ominous start to the pre-season, Manchester United went down fighting against an unheralded Norwegian club, Rosenberg. The defeat led to a worldwide hue and cry where fans believe that this can very well be a disastrous warning call to the season that lies ahead.

The Red Devils started with their second-string side, hoping to find a handful of youngsters who would rise to the occasion. Amongst the seniors who were on the field were Aaron Wan Bissaka, Jonny Evans, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Marcus Rashford.

Just when it felt like that the young guns can actually finish with shared spoils, driving a stake through the wishes of Manchester United, Noah Emmanuel Jean Holm fired the solitary goal of the evening sending the crowd in Lerkendal Stadion into delirious frenzy.

After the defeat, obvious questions deluged the horizon for Manchester United coach, Erik ten Hag who barely saved his job by the skin of its teeth after finishing eighth in the last season of Premier League. Despite clinching the FA Cup with an emphatic win against their city rivals, Manchester City, yet fans or the experts weren’t exactly happy with what they were witnessing.

This is what X had to say about the woeful defeat of Manchester United

With a defeat in the very first pre-season game, Erik Ten Hag will have to readjust his strategies. As the transfer window drama is afoot already, Manchester United is looking forward to plug in gaps from last year.

With too many injuries in the preceding season, the Red Devils will need some decent back up to ensure the fact that this time around, they are able to put up a better show. Better show or not, Twitter which has now been rechristened as X was certainly not happy with Manchester United’s defeat against Rosenberg.

It goes without saying with the return of the first-team players, Manchester United will definitely play with renewed vim and vigour but is it enough to seal them a European spot, only time shall tell.
