Top 10 Highest paid players in Premier League
The Premier League is by far the most viewed sports league on the planet, with 643 million families and a prospective TV audience of 4.7 billion viewers attending it in 212 countries. The aggregate Premier League match audience for recent seasons is around 40,000, second only to the Bundesliga in Germany, while cumulative turnout throughout all games was 14,508,981, the most in any competition.
As of this year, the Premier League is ranked first in the UEFA rankings, which are determined by league results in European competitions over the previous five years or seasons. With five English clubs have won a combined total of fourteen European championships, the English Premier League has the second-highest number of UEFA Champions League/European Cup championships.
Considering all this, it is quite obvious that the league would also have world-class players who have very impressive wages for the brilliance they show on the pitch. Footballing giants like Manchester United, Chelsea & Manchester City are some of the clubs that are able to pay such huge amounts to these players.
The Highest paid players in Premier League are as follows:
#10 – Edinson Cavani
Weekly Wage – 292,000 euros
The Manchester United Striker and Uruguayan International rank at no.10 on this list of rich footballers and it is quite understandable. Cavani is one of those footballers who everyone recognizes as a great goal scorer but lacking that extra zest & consistency that makes you the best in the world.
He has been performing very well for United since he joined last year just before the Coronavirus outbreak and was also named the Player of the month in April this year for his recurring match-winning performances during key moments. He is only the third United player older than 33 years to score more than 10 goals in a single season, has won multiple man-of-the-match awards, and was also awarded the premier’s league goal of the month recently.
#9 – Anthony Martial
Weekly Wage – 292,000 euros
Another United striker with around the same weekly fee, Anthony Martial has been playing for the red devils for a long time now and was also named the golden boy in 2015 after creating a record transfer fee for any teenager at the time.
The French international has almost always been on good terms with his fans with his performance by dribbling past multiple defenders or scoring spectacular goals. He has a lot of room for improvement and only recently got his first senior hat-trick in the 2019-20 season – which also happened to United’s first hattrick since Van Persie in 2013.
#8 – Timo Werner
Weekly Wage – 315,000 euros
Werner, dubbed “Turbo Timo,” is noted for his speed and acceleration. He began his career as a winger until eventually, moving to a striker or center-forward position. Werner scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 1–1 draw versus Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup fourth quarter, in which Chelsea lost 4–5 on penalties.
Although he faced a 14-game goalless drought in any league, he managed to put it to an end by scoring against clubs like Real Madrid and securing a place in Champions League against Manchester City, which Chelsea went on to win last season.
#7 – Paul Pogba
Weekly Wage – 338,000 euros
Something that not a lot of people know is that Paul Pogba used to play for United until the year 2010 before his tenure in Juventus. His return to Old Trafford has been charismatic and game-changing for the red devils and we can see him being appreciated in monetary terms.
Pogba is largely a central midfielder, but he can also perform on the left side of the field, in a deeper role, as a playmaker, in a “box-to-box” role, or even as an offensive midfielder, according to his club Manchester United. Pogba has also been presented as a “powerful, skillful, and creative” athlete with “an eye for goal and a penchant for the spectacular” by United.

Weekly Wage – 350,000 euros
The prolific striker is one of England’s most familiar faces and a definite threat in Manchester’s City’s attack. Sterling can perform as a winger, offensive midfielder, or forward, but he prefers to be on the wing. Sterling has been lauded for his versatility, as well as his willingness to play outside, at the top of a diamond formation, and in the center of it all. He is well-known for his quickness, ball control, and technical abilities.
His unique running style and amazing game sense have propelled him to multiple achievements and awards – both, as an individual player and as part of a team. His spell in City began in 2015 with a record-breaking transfer fee and he was also a key factor in City’s domestic treble in the 2018-2019 season.
#5 – Kai Havertz
Weekly Wage – 362,000 euros
The second biggest signing made by Chelsea recently, only after young goalkeeper Kepa, Kai Havertz is a favorite among Chelsea fans. Havertz has been regarded as a naturally skilled two-footed playmaker who is at ease with the ball on either leg and can use his head effectively.
Initially, his playing style draws parallels to Mesut Ozil, with Havertz openly acknowledging that the player was a person he admired. The 22yr old also scored the winning goal in this year’s UCL Final and thus helped Chelsea win the prestigious competition after a number of years.
#4 – Jadon Sancho
Weekly Wage – Approx. 400,000 euros
Sancho is a very analytical and tactical striker who is recognized for his deception, speed, and use of footwork in one-on-one scenarios. He has been dubbed as one of the best young footballers in the world.
Sancho’s move to Manchester United was confirmed in July of this year, conditional to his agreeing to terms and clearing a medical, both of which were bound to occur after the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament. Sancho struck a 5yr contract with the choice of an additional year, completing the move. In a 5–1 home league win over Leeds United the following month, he made his first appearance as a substitution for Daniel James.

He is also the fastest arsenal player to reach 50 goals for the club. He had also taken over as the captain of the team after his predecessor Xhaka had a dispute with the Gunners’ fans.
#2 – Romelu Lukaku
Weekly Wage – 450,000 euros
The new Chelsea signing – Romelu Lukaku – is a left-footed player who was dubbed one of the ten most promising young players in Europe by The Guardian in 2014. He displays speed, agility, intelligence, an excellent connection with teammates, technical characteristics, and foresight, as well as the capacity to get into good offensive situations or find openings for partners with his clever moves off the ball, in addition to his physical features and goal-scoring prowess.
#1 – Cristiano Ronaldo
Weekly Wage – 480,000 euros
The biggest talk in the game right now, United’s golden boy returning home for ‘the last dance’ should be more than enough to describe the sheer greatness of one of the highest-paid athletes in the premier league. He needs no introduction for even someone who doesn’t follow football. multiple award-winning Striker/Winger Cristiano Ronaldo has drawn up a new contract with his former team at old Trafford and has managed to secure a very expensive deal even at the mature age of 36.
