Inter Milan beat city rivals AC Milan 1-0 in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals winning 3-0 on aggregate to book a place in the Champions League final for the first time since 2010. Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez combined with Romelu Lukaku to score the winning goal in the 74th minute. The Nerazzuris will face either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final in Istanbul on June 10.
The Nerazzuris dominated their city rivals during the reverse fixture with goals from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the first half sealing the victory. However, Milan dominated in the second leg after the return of Rafael Leao with a couple of wonderful opportunities that failed to convert. The win is Inter Milan’s eighth consecutive win so far.
Inter has been the better team in Serie A this season, sitting third to AC Milan’s fifth with three games left to go. Inter has been better head-to-head, winning all three meetings between the teams in 2023. They have the chance to cause a huge upset winning the Champions League against the likes to either Manchester City or Real Madrid, two heavyweights in the competition.

Inter Milan is the only team that has never been demoted from Serie A, the top division in Italy, to a lower league. The team has won 34 domestic trophies since its founding, including 19 league wins, eight Coppa Italia championships, and seven Supercoppa Italiana crowns. The club won five straight league titles from 2006 to 2010, tying the all-time record at the time.
Inter won both the Coppa Italia and the Scudetto in the same year, 2010, and they won their most recent final, completing an extraordinary Italian season Treble. The team has also won one FIFA Club World Cup, three UEFA Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups. They compete in the Derby della Madonnina against Milan, with whom they have a long-standing rivalry and the Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

The first they lost against Celtic in 1966–67 where they succumbed to a 1-2 defeat and the second they lost to Ajax in 1971–72. They last won Europe’s premier competition in 2011 against Bayern Munich.
