Indian Super League: How could FC Goa Lineup in the 2021/22 season?

The Indian Super League is again back this season with some exciting action on the pitch as 11 teams battle out for that Golden ISL Trophy of 2021/22 season.

Let us have a look at the probable lineup of FC Goa for the 2021/22 season of the Indian Super League. Since 2017/18 season Goa has maintained their consistency and has qualified for the playoffs, even playing in the finals of 2018/19 against Bengaluru which they lost 1-0.

With the new signings, the Spanish manager Juan Ferrando will definitely be looking forward to finally win their first ISL title in the 2021/22 season as the season nears to open.

FC Goa: Probable Lineup

Goalkeeper- Dheeraj Singh

Dheeraj Singh

The young goalkeeper proved himself as one of the best in the U-17 World Cup which was held in India. He has played for three different clubs in the ISL which include Kerala Blasters, ATK and FC Goa. He won the ISL with ATK in 2019/20 although he got only one game in his name. Dheeraj was not getting enough play time in ATK and hence decided to make his move to FC Goa where he proved himself as the best and became the first choice keeper.

Right Back- Seriton Fernandes

Seriton Fernandes

Seriton Fernandes began his career in the youth academy of Dempo. The right back proved to be an essential element in FC Goa reaching the finals in 2018/19 season and is now tied to the club until the end of this season in 2022. Seriton played very well in the 2021 AFC Champions and will definitely look forward to carry on his momentum in the 2021 ISL also.

Centre Back- Iván González

Iván González

Iván González began his early career in the youth Academy of Real Madrid and he spent some considerable amount of time playing in Spain before joining FC Goa in 2020 on a two year deal. He seemed to have had a great impact on the defensive line in FC Goa as they played well in the 2021 AFC Champions league as well in the 2021 Durand Cup which they secured a win.

Centre Back- Dylan Fox

Dylan Fox

The Australian Irish born defender spent majority of his career showcasing his talent in the Australian football. North East United signed Dylan in 2020/21 campaign where he proved himself as a major part of the side as they finished third in the ISL in the same campaign. FC Goa signed a one year deal with Dylan Fox at the start of this season for about 28 lakh rupees.

Left Back- Sanson Pereira

Sanson Pereira

Sanson Pereira has proved himself as one of the best during his stint with Salgaocar where he won many honours like the GFA U-14, GFA U-18, Goa Professional League and Goa Sevens. He signed for FC Goa in the beginning of the 2020/21 season and has been the first team player for the Gaurs since then.

Defensive Midfielder- Edu Bedia

Edu Bedia

Edu Bedia began his early career in Racing de Santander and has spent majority of his years in Spain, even playing for Barcelona B in 2013/14. FC Goa signed the midfielder in 2017/18 and since he has proved his worth in the Indian Super League. In 71 matches for FC Goa he has 9 goals and 12 assists and is currently the captain of the Gaurs.

Defensive Midfielder- Glan Martins

Glan Martins

Glan Martins began his career in SESA football academy in Goa and since then he has risen through the ranks. ATK Mohun Bagan signed the midfielder in 2020/21 season although Martins did not receive much of a play time for the Mariners. FC Goa signed Glan Martins at the beginning of this season and since then he has proved himself to be and useful and important first team player for the Gaurs.

Attacking Midfielder- Princeton Rebello

Princeton Rebello

Princeton Rebello was one of the emerging players from Goa and was very talented from a young age. He even played for Queens Park Ranger but due to citizenship permit issue he had return to India. He played under the wings of AIFF and was taken into the developmental squad of FC Goa in 2018/19. Princeton will be an excellent choice for the Gaurs in the attacking mid position.

Right Winger- Jorge Ortiz

Jorge Ortiz Mendoza

Jorge Ortiz has spent majority of his career in Spain and started to play from the youth ranks of Getafe CF. He made his move to FC Goa before the start of 2020/21 and has proved himself to be an incredible forward especially after his electric performance in the AFC Champions League.

Centre Forward- Airam Cabrera

Airam Cabrera

The Spanish forward Airam Cabrera is the new addition to FC Goa this season. Cabrera has spent a considerable amount of time playing in some of the top leagues in Europe (Spain, Poland and Cyprus) and has expressed his excitement as he looks forward to prove himself in his debut season Indian Super League.

Left Winger- Nongdamba Naorem

Nongdamba Naorem

Nongdamba Naorem has been an important part of the U-17 Indian National team in 2017 World Cup. He had an exceptional talent and was incredible with the ball on his feet. Naorem has won the I-League with Mohun bagan in 2019/20 season. He was signed as free agent by FC Goa at the beginning of the new season and is getting himself prepared to become a probable starter for the Gaurs.
