Indian Super League: How could Odisha  FC Lineup in the 2021/22 season?

The Indian Super League is again back this season with some exciting action on the pitch as 11 teams battle out for that Golden ISL Trophy of 2021/22 season. 

Let us have a look at the probable lineup of Odisha FC for the 2021/22 season of the Indian Super League. Odisha had a very disappointing performance last season as they finished at the bottom of the table with just 12 points in 20 matches. With Kiko Ramirez as the new appointed manager the Kalinga Warriors will look to redeem themselves this season. 

Odisha FC: Probable Lineup

Goalkeeper- Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh was a part of AIFF Elite academy from where he kick started his career to join the I-League side Minerva Punja in 2015. He won the I-League inthe 2017/18 season with Minerva. Singh joined Odisha FC before the start of the 2019/20 season and has since then been a major part of the squad.

Right Back- Shubham Sarangi

Subham Sarangi began his youth career with Minerva Punjab before making his ISL debut with Delhi Dynamos in 2017/18 season. Sarangi moved to one of the best international academy in Doha in 2017 where he learned and grew into a fine defender. He has since then continued to play for the club Odisha FC which was the rebranded name of Delhi Dynamos in 2019/20 season.

Centre Back- Héctor Rodas

Héctor Rodas Ramirez grew up from the youth ranks of the Spanish football club Levante where spent some considerable amount of time proving his worth in the La Liga. Héctor made his move to India in 2021 as he signed a one year deal with the Juggernauts and is very eager to start his debut campaign in the ISL. 

Centre Back- Víctor Mongil

Victor Mongil started his career with Real Valladolid in the third division of the Spanish league from where he kept rising up in the charts. He was signed by ATK in 2019 where he played a vital role in the title winning campaign. He was signed on a one year deal by Odisha before the start of the 2021/22 season.

Left Back- Hendry Antonay

Hendry Antonay the young wing back has the ability to play on either flanks of the pitch. He was part of the AIFF elite academy before he made his senior debut with Chennaiyin FC B in 2018. He was signed by Odisha FC in 2020 as he went on to create an impact although Odisha failed to finish in a respectable position.

Defensive Midfielder- Vinit Rai

Vinit Rai is said to be an exceptional player in the mid as he possesses an exceptional eye for passing and acts as a perfect anchor in the centre. He began his youth career with Tata Football Academy before getting signed by Dempo in 2014. Rai made his debut in ISL for Kerala Blasters in the 2016 season. Odisha FC signed the youngster in 2017 where he proved to be an important part of the first eleven of the lineup.

Defensive Midfielder- Moirangthem Thoiba

Moirangthem Thoiba is the youngest player to ever play in the league system of India and is as well as the youngest player ever to score in a AFC Cup match with Minerva Punjab (Manang Marshyangdi 1-1 Minerva Punjab, AFC Cup Matchday 4, Group E). Moirangthem will be hoping to make much more game time this season after his only one appearance in the last season with Odisha FC. 

Attacking Midfielder- Javi Hernández

Javi Hernández has grown up from the youth academy of Real Madrid as went on to create his mark in the Spanish league. Javi was signed by ATK before 2019/20 season where he played a very vital role in ATK lifting the cup for the third time. Odisha FC signed the attacking midfielder in July of 2021 on a one year deal.

Right Wing- Aridai Cabrera

Aridai Cabrera began his career with Universidad LP as he made his way up into the ranks to play in several clubs in the Spanish league. Aridai moved to India after the winger decided to sign on a one year deal with Odisha FC before the start of the 2021/22 campaign of Indian Super League.

Central Forward- Jonathas

Jonathas the Brazilian centre forward has made a major impact for some top tier clubs all around the world. Odisha FC signed the striker in September of 2021 as they are very eager to put up a much better performance compared to their last season’s display and the Brazilian definitely has the capability to turn things around for the Juggernauts give the experience. 

Left Wing- Nandha Kumar Sekar

Nandha Kumar, the Indian winger made his debut with Chennai City in I-League in 2017 before making his to Delhi Dynamos in the same year and has continued to represent the club in the Indian Super League even after it’s name was rebranded to Odisha FC.
