“.. it’s like a new start..” – Donny van de Beek on his move away from Manchester United

Donny van de Beek in his recent interview with Sky Sports revealed that his move to Everton away from Manchester United is a new start to his career.

He said, “I think, a new area, new players, new coach, [it’s] like a new start you know, and this gives a lot of energy.

“Also, if you have seen how the way the club is in the [Premier League] table, they also want to go up, and me also as a player, I want to show again what I can do. I think this combination is good.”

The 24-year-old joined Everton on loan last month as he looked to finally settle in the Premier League after a difficult year-and-a-half at United. Donny van de Beek struggled for playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and continued to be on the periphery when Ralf Rangnick took over on an interim basis.

A month ago, United finally granted Donny van de Beek’s wish of a loan exit, and there was plenty of interest in him from clubs all across Europe and was allowed to join Everton on loan for the remainder of the season in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

Frank Lampard ‘impressed’ with Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek has made two appearances for Everton so far and Frank Lampard has only seen positive signs from the Dutch midfielder following his switch to Goodison Park. ‘I’m really impressed,’ Lampard said when asked about Van de Beek.

‘When I think back to the time he’s had at Manchester United, he’s a top level player.

‘He was when Manchester United signed him, he was at Ajax when I went up against him.

‘To have a tough time is not easy, there’s different ways of reacting. I’m sure it was tough, and he shows that if you keep your counsel, keep your head down and keep working in the right way, there’s always a way through it, and people will always respect you for that.

‘Now hopefully there’s a chance for him to just show his talent on a regular basis, and that’s what I hope to see.’
