“It’s not just about money”- Ousmane Dembele’s agent bashes FC Barcelona board while explaining his client’s contract situation

The whole Ousmane Dembele contract fiasco is far from over at the moment with the French winger not willing to take a pay cut and sign a new deal at the Catalan club. Dembele who signed for FC Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 as a potential replacement of Neymar. It is fair to say that Dembele would’ve been one of the best wingers in world football if it was not for the multiple injuries he has suffered since joining Barcelona.
However reports suggest that Dembele’s entourage are not happy with the treatment the 2018 French World Cup winner is receiving at Barcelona under new manager Xavi. Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko is annoyed with the management of his client. Dembele was subbed on at halftime against third division club Linares in the Copa Del Rey third round match last week, as the winger helped the team come from behind as he scored the winner.
“We often talk about money when it comes to Ousmane’s extension but it’s not just a question of money. But also day-to-day management. This sports management with this entry without training, just after Covid, is really difficult for us to understand.” explained Moussa Sissoko, Ousmane Dembélé’s agent to daily L’Equipe.
It caused a wave of misunderstanding with his agent and closed ones as Dembele was pushed straight into action after recovering from COVID-19 just a few days ago.
However new manager Xavi has shown nothing but praise for Dembele and says that he would love for him to stay as Barcelona is the right project for him.
“I hope he will make an effort, This sports project is the best for him. He wouldn’t be so happy elsewhere, I am confident and I am waiting for news. It doesn’t depend on me, it depends on the club, the player and the agents.” Xavi said at a press conference on Thursday.
