Jamshedpur FC announce the signing of Ishan Pandita from FC Goa

The official website of Jamshedpur FC confirmed that the club has signed Ishan Pandita on a two-year deal which will see him play at the club till May 2023. The 23-year-old striker joins from FC Goa, where he scored 4 goals in 11 appearances for the club. Due to his promising performances last season, Pandita got call ups from the Indian national team and has made two appearances since.

Talking to the official site, Pandita said that he was amazed to sign for the Men of Steel. He stated, “I’m extremely excited to be joining Jamshedpur. I feel this is the perfect place for me right now to grow and develop with the help of Owen Coyle and the unwavering support of Jamshedpur’s fantastic fans. I can’t wait to get on the field and put on that red jersey of Jamshedpur.”  

Jamshedpur boss Owen Coyle was delighted to welcome Pandita, and further said, “Ishan had a fantastic season and is now an Indian International player. He was wanted by several clubs, and we are delighted to welcome him to Jamshedpur and fulfill his hunger to score goals. The fans can look forward to a repeat of his heroics from last season and more, with consistent playing opportunities. His addition emphasizes our belief in young Indian players who will have solid opportunities with us to showcase their talent and perform.”

Pandita’s footballing roots

Pandita spent his youth career in different clubs in Spain, right from 2014. In 2015, he forced through the under-18 set-up of La Liga outfit Almería but couldn’t sign a professional contract due to being underaged. In the following year, he joined the u-19 team of Leganes where he became the first Indian footballer ever to play for a youth team of a Spanish first division club. He spent few more years in Spain, before coming back to India in 2020 to play for FC Goa.

Pandita scored four goals and was tagged the “super-sub” throughout last season, as all his goals being equalizers and coming in the later stages of the games.
