Bayern Munich have a host of contract renewals lined up this summer, and kick started it by renewing the contract of one of their most important players Kimmich. Primarily a right-back during his initial days of joining the club, Kimmich has transformed himself into a midfielder and is one of the main players of the current Bayern side. His pin point passing and the tenacity to work hard throughout the 90 minutes helped him establish himself at a Bayern side which has been full of stars throughout.
During his 6 years at the club, Kimmich has already won a total of 17 trophies a number which is highly enviable considering the fact that he is still only 26, and has a long career ahead of him. He was an integral part of the 2019-20 season as Bayern Munich became just the 2nd side in the history of club football to win the “Sextuple.“
Kimmich was delighted at having signed the contract extension as he hopes to reach even higher levels both personally and collectively at Bayern.
Speaking to Bayern Munich’s official website, he said, “The most important reason for my contract extension is that I can pursue my passion with joy every day here at FC Bayern. I have a team where I can achieve everything, and a lot of teammates have become real friends. That’s why I started playing football in the first place, because it should be fun.”
“I still don’t think I’m at the end of my development and I’m convinced there’s a lot possible at FC Bayern in the next years. On top of that, my family feels at home here. Munich has become a second home. The combination we have here isn’t found all over the world.”
