Karim Benzema is returning to the French National setup after a long hiatus of 6 years after Deschamps rewarded the striker with a place in the EURO 2020 squad this summer. The 33-year old has not played for France since 2015 after allegedly blackmailing teammate Valbuena over a sex-tape.

However, all those concerns are now in the past and Benzema is looking forward to link-up with the teenage sensation Mbappe for the first time in his career. Even Mbappe was excited at the prospect of playing with Karim, who is regarded as one of the top strikers in world football at the moment.

Karim benzema in an exclusive interview given to French news outlet Onze Mondial spoke about the privileges of playing with the best attackers in the world and wants the goal scoring duties to be shared among themselves.

It’s clear I’ve had a lot of feedback,” Karim Benzema told Onze Mondial. “It can be only easy [to play with Kylian]. It’s true that he’s a young player, but very, very talented. 

“I like his movements, how he plays football. Now it’s up to us to get along well on the pitch, but anyway, I have no doubts about that.

“Still, we should not focus on the Mbappe-Benzema duo. There are many very talented players in this team: [Antoine] Griezmann, [Olivier] Giroud, [Paul] Pogba, [Ousmane] Dembele, [Kingsley] Coman, [Wissam] Ben Yedder. The danger can come from anywhere and that is so much better for France.”

Kylian Mbappe also took to his social media accounts just after the announcement had been made that Karim will play for France.

“I am very happy”, said Mbappe on the inclusion of the Real Madrid striker.

“I have always said that I wanted to play with the best players. There are not many players who are better than Karim in the world. He is going to give us what he knows how to do.

“He has played for Real Madrid for 10 years. He knows what pressure is, he has experience and he has talent above everything.“
