Kristen Anne Mewis, or more commonly known as Kristie Mewis, is one of the best female midfielders in the game of football. She is best known for her dangerous left foot and her dynamic style of play usually on the left flank.

The left midfielder previously played in the 2008 under-17 world cup and the 2010 under-20 world cup. The 32-year-old currently plays for Gotham FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Mewis’ talent was apparent from a young age, as she and her sister Sam Mewis cruised through the ranks to become the first sibling pair to feature in the US World Cup team together as they played at the U-17 WC in 2008. They continued their run, as they played together at the U-20 WC in 2010 as well.

Mewis was drafted to FC Kansas City in 2013 playing a pivotal role as the club finished second in the table. In the same year, she received her first senior team call-up as she made her debut for the USWNT against Scotland.

The midfielder’s career was going fairly well with stints in Japan and Germany until she tore her ACL in 2018. The injury saw her being sidelined for over a year. However, upon her return back to the pitch, she found form again. She played 20 games for Houston Dash, where she scored 4 goals and provided an assist in an impressive season. She credits the injury as a turning point which led her to reassess her career.

Mewis’ reported net worth is around $10 million. This is largely because of the huge endorsements she receives making her one of the richest female footballers in the world. The 32-year-old makes roughly $500,000 a year.

Some of the endorsements for Kristie include Nike and Whey Protein. Due to her rising popularity, she has been able to sign endorsement deals which have contributed heavily to her net worth.

The midfielder currently stays in Harrison, New Jersey. This is due to her playing for Gotham FC which is established in the same city. The city is known for its urban suburban hybrid residencies which are home to many young professionals.

With a population of just over 20,000, the city is also known for its beautiful tourist attraction spots making it convenient for visitors as it is only 15 miles outside of Manhattan. Apart from this, it is also home to the Red Bull Arena Soccer Stadium, which is home to MLS side New York Red Bulls.

Daughter to Robert and Melissa, Kristie is the oldest of two sisters. Her younger sister, Sam, has made multiple national appearances with her sister along the likes of Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan.

The two sisters were naturally gifted in terms of football and played together for most of their careers. Sam Mewis currently plays for Kansas City Current, also a club in the NWSL.

As for Kristie’s dating life, she is currently in a relationship with Chelsea superstar Sam Kerr. The two have been dating for over seven years. Kerr and Mewis were one of the first in the sport to be an openly gay couple.
