Ligue 1: Marseille vs PSG Player Ratings as 10-men Paris come out with a goalless draw from the Le Classique

The 101st Le Classique ended in a goalless 0-0 draw, after an intriguing match at the Velodrome which saw 10-men PSG and Marseille get a point each. Paris were hampered in their quest for the victory as Achraf Hakimi was sent off for a last-man tackle on Cengiz Under in the second half after a VAR decision.

The result meant that PSG continue to top Ligue 1 with 28 points from 11 matches, whereas their opponents, Marseile moved up a position to occupy the 4th spot in the league.

Marseille Player Ratings

Pau López- 7/10- The Spanish keeper made a string of saves throughout the match, to keep it at 0-0. He was excellent with his distribution as well and never looked under pressure.

Duje Caleta-Car– 7/10- The young Croatian defender showed great determination and tenacity, as he made a number of last-ditch challenges to keep his side in the game.

Luan Peres- 7/10– The Brazilian impressed on the pitch, keeping out most of Paris’ attack in the first half, and also made a fine challenge on Neymar to stop his shot.

William Saliba- 7/10- The Arsenal loanee showed his ball-playing skills as well as his defensive capabilities and kept Mbappe quiet for large swathes of the match. His impeccable last-man challenge on Kylian Mbappe kept the game 0-0 at the 83rd minute.

Pol Lirola- 7/10- The right-sided midfielder was good in attack, creating moves for his side with his positive dribbling skills.

Valentin Rongier- 6.5/10- The midfielder had a good game after he earned an early yellow card for a challenge on Nuno Mendes. After a series of risky challenges, he was eventually subbed off in the second half.

Matteo Guendouzi- 7/10- Another good display from the young midfielder who has been a revelation at his new club. He controlled the pace of the match for Marseille and finished with a pass accuracy of 87.

Boubacar Kamara-6.7/10- The French midfielder had a good game as he contributed well in the midfield and made some good passes and interceptions. However, he was brought off in the 71st minute.

Dimitri Payet- 6.5/10- The French international had a frustrating night at the Velodrome, and made far too many loose passes. He was seen very little inside the opposition penalty box.

Cengiz Ünder- 7/10- The Turkish winger made a significant contribution in the second half, as he ran free on goal and invited the challenge from Hakimi bringing about the red card for the right-back. However, he needs to work on his finishing.

Arkadiusz Milik- 6/10- The Polish striker missed a header early on in the game, and though he had scored the goal it was ruled out for offside. He was involved in most of Marseille’s attacks.

Substitutes

Konrad de la Fuente- 6/10- The American winger had three good chances to score the winner after coming on to replace Rongier, however, he missed all of them.

Bamba Dieng- 6/10- The Senegalese striker was called on for the final 15 minutes to replace Milik in attack.

Gerson- 6/10- Came on to replace Cengiz Under for the final 15 minutes of the match.

PSG Player Ratings

Keylor Navas- 6.5/10- A commanding performance from the veteran goalkeeper. He was assured with his handling whenever called into action. Navas was also decent with the ball at his feet and notched up a pass percentage of 90.

Presnel Kimpembe- 7/10- Kimpembe was good at the heart of defense, especially after PSG were reduced to 10-men and had to defend for the final minutes of the match. He was good positionally and did not make any notable mistakes.

Marquinhos- 7/10- A captain’s display from the Brazilian center back, as he won most of the duels with Milik. His aerial ball-winning ability came to the fore twice while defending corners inside his own penalty box.

Nuno Mendes- 7/10- The Portuguese left-back was excellent down the flanks, and linked very well with Kylian Mbappe to bring Paris on the attack numerous times. He was also there to save his side defensively when required.

Achraf Hakimi- 5/10- An awful match for the young defender as he received a red card, after a clumsy tackle on Under who was through on goal in the second half.

Lionel Messi- 6.5/10- The Argentine did have a few chances to score his first Ligue 1 goal at PSG, but did not provide much threat individually throughout the entirety of the 90 minutes.

Danilo Pereira- 6.5/10- The ever-present Portuguese did his job playing in the defensive midfield position. He was there to suck up the attacking runs from Payet who played in the pocket behind the strikers. However, he did earn a yellow card.

Marco Verratti- 6/10- The Italian midfielder had to come off right at the end of the first half, after suffering a collision with Guendouzi.

Kylian Mbappé- 7/10- The teenage sensation, did well in patches as he made runs in behind the defenders. However, he could not get his final shot away and could not score for the Parisians. 

Neymar- 6.5/10- An unusually quiet night from the Brazilian star, by his own lofty standards. He did not dribble much and looked to pass the ball on for the likes of Mbappe and Messi in attack. He was called off for the final 10 minutes.

Ángel Di María- 6.5/10- The Argentine did not look much involved in PSG’s attacking moves and was eventually sacrificed after they went down to 10-men to bring in more defensive cover.

Substitutes

Gueye- 6/10- He came on to replace Marco Verratti at the end of the first half.

Thilo Kehrer- 6/10- He was called on to fill in the vacant right-back position after Hakimi’s dismissal and came on for Angel Di Maria.
