Liverpool thrash Manchester United 5-0: A passionate fan rant as “Red Devil dies” in front of the Old Trafford crowd
Where do I start from? When Manchester United conceded the first goal, I was still hoping for a comeback. Then you conceded the second, and still I believed in the second half FC. But the third goal went in and I started to lose the hope little by little.
And the fourth goal went in, it was the final nail in the coffin. I tried to switch off my computer but the die hard fan in me did not allow me to do that. I kept on watching. Pogba came on in the place of Mason Greenwood and completely kept my hopes up again. Then you conceded the fifth. The Pogba’s red card was the last. The Red Devil dies there.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Is it time to leave Manchester United?
You came on when we were in a deep mess. Jose Mourinho struggled to get the best of Luke Shaw and toxicity at the club got him sacked. It was the cold of December when you came in. Norway was cold but Manchester United was more cold and dark. You came in and got the best of Paul Pogba in the earlier games. When nobody dreamt of getting to top-four, you raised the hopes. Though we lost it on the final day of the campaign, I was never disappointed as we had a disjointed squad. That day at Parc des Princess against Paris St Germain, I will never forget.
In the summer, you became ruthless. Sold a few players and got the probable best at the time. Got the best of Prima Donnas in the squad. You made us believe that we are going upwards. And the players also responded well. We went on to qualify for the multiple semifinals and got into the top four when the pandemic had hit the whole world. You were the little joy during the tough times of the pandemic.
Then came the 2020/21 season. We had a poor start to the season. There were noises of the sack but you got ahead. We even got into the top position in January 2021. We could not sustain that position for the long term. We were out of the Champions League and you tried to make it up with a Europa League trophy. Sad day, David de Gea could not save the shot neither he could shoot one.
The summer came again. We got Sancho and Raphael Varane along with our lost son, Cristiano Ronaldo. We were on top of the table for the first three gameweeks. But the form started to fade with that loss against Young Boys and Carabao Cup fixture against West Ham United. Still, I supported you and I will keep you supported till the last day at the job. But, at this juncture, your unfair treatment of Donny van de Beek is putting you in the wrong place.
Probably, you have reached your potential. I cannot see Sir Alex Ferguson crying from the stands. He is one of the few who built the club which that is today. So, please think about your position. Do not lose the Legend status that you have from the ’99 Treble team.
On the other hand, from the fanbase perspective, we want the team to return to glory at the earliest. We are mad at you but we will not give up on you. We are mad fans. We will support you Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the same time, we will support the new manager as well. And, and, and Glazers. It is now or never. Either give the new manager with a better coaching staff or get us a positive atmosphere. It is upto you.
Signing off,
A hard core Manchester United fan!
