Premier League: Manchester City vs Leicester City Player Ratings as Mahrez star in a 6-3 victory for City

At the end of the Premier League fixture, Manchester City vs Leicester City, here are our player ratings. 

Starting the game with a higher tempo, Manchester City fired all the cylinders up. Kevin de Bruyne scored the first goal in the fifth minute and there was nobody to stop Manchester City. The Blues went on to add three more in the next 20 mins to make it 4-0. At the end of the first half, it was evident on Brendan Rodgers’ face. 

In the second half, LCFC rose back to the occasion and scored three goals to reduce it to 4-3. However, Laporte scored the fifth moments later to make the score 5-3. Taking no risks in the dying embers of the game, Manchester City slotted the sixth one to complete the rout in the second half.

Ederson (5.5/10): It was the game to forget for the Brazilian international. After having nothing to do in the first half, the player was caught napping which helped LCFC to stage a comeback. 

Joao Cancelo (5.8/10): After great gameweeks prior to the fixture against the Foxes, Cancelo had a poor game both offensively and defensively against LCFC. He could neither swing a cross nor save a goal. 

Ruben Dias (5.5/10): The Portuguese had a cleansheet in the first half but was brutally steamrolled in the second. The player conceded three goals. 

Aymeric Laporte (6.2/10): Laporte was the pick of defenders for Manchester City as he scored the fifth goal to restore the two goal lead for City. 

Oleksandr Zinchenko (6/10): The left back was on top of his game and won the aerial headers effectively. However, he could not register any assists for his gameplay. 

Bernardo Silva  (7.1/10): One of the best Portuguese in the league, Bernardo Silva was simply superb throughout the game. He started in the midfield three but shifted to false nine role and KdB was subbed. 

Illkay Gundogan (7.5/10): Illkay Gundogan is time and again proving his worth. The player scored a goal for his side in the first half asserting the dominance of his side. He also had two successful dribbles to his name. 

Fernandinho (7.6/10): Not only Fernandinho did the dirty work in the midfield but also provided the assist for his side in the first half. He had a pass success rate of 96% in the game. 

Raheem Sterling (8/10): The former Liverpool player had a great game on the left flank as he scored a penalty in the first half and the second one in the second to quell any comeback from LCFC.  

Kevin de Bruyne (7.5/10): The Belgian playmaker was key in Manchester City’s dominance in the first half. He scored the goal early in the game to give the lead and was involved in reshuffling the passes. Riyad Mahrez (8/10): The Algerian international was on top in his game against Brendan Rodgers’ men. He not only scored the penalty but also assisted his side to seal the deal against Leicester.

Peter Schmeichel (5/10): The son of a former Manchester United player failed to stop the goal fest from City. He conceded six goals including an error leading to the goal. 

Luke Thomas (5.5/10): Slotting in the right-back amidst the injuries to the first team players, Luke Thomas had an unnerving game in both attack and defense. City players were able to exploit the weak link. 

Yannick Vestegaard (5.5/10): The former Southampton man was not able to stop the attackers of Manchester City. His positioning was utterly poor leading to several games throughout the 90 minutes. 

Daniel Amartey (5.5/10): The skipper of Leicester City will not be proud of his team’s performances. Moreover, he will not be happy about his performance itself. Barring an aerial victory, Amartey failed to stop the ruthless City. 

Marc Albrighton (5.7/10): Only one defender can be happy about his performance and that will be Albrighton. On the left flank, he took the team out of trouble and provided the passes to his forwards. He played a role in helping his side to stage a comeback. 

Kieman Drewsbury Hall (6.7/10): Drewsbury Hall played a dull game in the first half but came alive in the second half to win the tackles and supply the balls to his attackers. He registered two successful tackles to his name. 

Youri Tielemans (5.2/10): One Belgian had a great game whereas the other could not even get the hang of the game. Tielemans had a worst game ever since his arrival to the top flight. The player was dispossessed several times and could not shield his defense. 

James Madisson (7.2/10): The English playmaker did not get the supply in the first half but in the second half, he initiated three counter attacks that helped his side to stage a mini comeback. He had three successful dribbles to his name. 

Ademola Lookman (7.2/10): The former Fulham man was a live wire in the attack for his side. The player registered a goal that helped his side in staging the comeback. However, it was not enough on Sundau. 

Kelechi Iheanacho (7.6/10): Despite the goal fest at Etihad Stadium, Kelechi Iheanacho was the star for his side with a goal and two assists to his name.

Ayoze Perez (6/10): Barring a successful dribble, Ayoze Perez did not have a great game against Manchester City. The player was subbed in the second half.

Substitutes:

Timothy Castagne (6.1/10): Castagne was sent to stabilize the defense and adopt the change in formation. However, he had limited resources to deal with the attacking Manchester City players.

Hamza Choudhary (6/10): Hamza Choudhary was sent on the field by Brendan Rodgers to complete the comeback against City. However, Manchester City woke up at the right time and did not allow Hamza to dominate the proceedings.
