Manchester United finally takes a big decision against Mason Greenwood after ongoing investigation

Manchester United have finally taken some steps against their player Mason Greenwood after it was announced by the Manchester Police that the investigation for his alleged domestic assault case was still ongoing. The Red Devils had released a statement on Monday morning as soon as the news broke out that Mason Greenwood had been arrested by the local police.

Manchester United’s statement said,” We are aware of the images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

Mason Greenwood has been at Manchester United since his childhood and rose through the United academy. The 20 year old made his debut for the Red Devils in 2019 and has since played 129 times for the club, scoring an impressive 35 goals.

Manchester United also announced that Mason Greenwood will not return to training, or play any matches for the club until further notice. This comes after it was reported that Greenwood was re-arrested on charges of “rape” and “threaten to kill” and was released on bail for the time being as police were carrying on with the investigation.

Manchester United and football world’s stance against Mason Greenwood:

Manchester United yesterday announced that fans will be able to exchange their shirts with Mason Greenwood’s name printed on the back for free. The club is doing it’s best to take a stance against the 20 year old after it was reported that Greenwood was charged with serious allegations by his ex-girlfriend.

The Red Devils have also removed all the merchandise related to the 20 year old from their online store as well as their Old Trafford megastore. It was also reported that most of the players in the squad were “shocked” and “appalled” after the news broke out to the world last weekend.

The fans of the club are said to be furious that Mason Greenwood is still under contract and many fans are calling out for him to be removed from the club after the horrific news that broke out. There have been many who have been reaching out to the youngster’s ex-girlfriend to show their support too.

Mason Greenwood’s brand sponsor Nike also released a statement after the news broke out on social media last weekend. Nike said,” We have suspended our relationship with Mason Greenwood. We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to monitor the situation carefully.”

FIFA and PES have removed Mason Greenwood from their games too. Both the gaming brands were shocked by the news that was revolving last weekend. It was later reported that FIFA had removed the 20 year old from the game for the time being until the facts came out.

Konami, Manchester United’s global partner, said,” In light of the serious allegations made against Mason Greenwood, the player will be removed from our football titles until further notice. Specifically for PES 2021 on mobile, users cannot newly obtain the player, but existing owners are unaffected. KONAMI condemns violence of any kind.”

It was reported that many Manchester United players have also unfollowed Mason Greenwood on social media platform Instagram. Bruno Fernandes, David De Gea and Alex Telles being some of the names that were reported to be the first ones to unfollow the 20 year old.

The club’s official logistics sponsor DHL said,” We are aware of the recent allegations against Manchester United footballer, Mason Greenwood. While we do not tolerate any kind of violence, we will not be commenting on the situation while the investigation is still ongoing by the Manchester Police.”
